New research has uncovered deeply buried military secrets—both the Allied and Axis special operations during WWII included monsters. Did the Soviets use a dragon to win the Battle of Kursk? Did a vampire fight for the Canadians in Holland? Did the US drop the second atomic bomb on a kaiju? This collection takes real events from World War II and injects them with fantastical creatures that mirror the “unreality” of war itself. Each story—and two poems—feature mythical, mystical, and otherwise unexplainable beings that change the course of history.

From the haunted hills of Roman Britain to the sewers of occupied Warsaw … in the bloodied streets of Revolutionary Paris, and the anarchy World War II Shanghai … out of the wilds of America, India, Africa and Europe … down the long savage darkness of the centuries, monsters have fed upon us. They are shapeshifters, vampires, sorcerers and spirits—things named only in myth, and things for which we have no name. They are our demons, our reflections, our desires and our nightmares. And all too often, they are … only human.

Natasha Miller takes you along on her journey as she breaks free from a troubled, abusive childhood, overcomes the trappings of transiency, and harnesses her sheer grit to build a multimillion dollar entertainment production company while raising her daughter as a single parent. Bogged down by the daily grind, Miller sought an alternative. She shares the transformational inner work she did to grow her confidence and independence as well as the strategic, practical steps that enabled her to activate profits, optimize her systems, and become a leader with intention.
