Have you ever prayed for help, only to have someone unexpectedly show up at exactly the right moment? In 1 Nephi 7:17–19, Nephi prays for deliverance after his brothers bind him with cords. The Lord answers miraculously, and the bands fall away. But when Nephi's brothers threaten him again, God answers in a completely different way—through the courageous intervention of Ishmael's daughter, her mother, and one of Ishmael's sons. Nephi's experience reminds us that God answers prayers in many different ways. Sometimes He intervenes through unmistakable miracles. Other times, He sends a friend, family member, Church leader, ministering brother or sister, or even a stranger at exactly the right moment. What looks like an ordinary act of kindness may actually be heaven answering someone's prayer. And sometimes we're not the ones waiting for the answer. Sometimes we're the ones God sends. So when you feel prompted to call, text, encourage, invite, or help someone, don't dismiss it. You may never know what they've been praying for—but God does. Have you ever wondered why God doesn’t simply give us a powerful miracle whenever our faith begins to weaken? Prayer, scripture study, the sacrament, temple worship, service, and following the Spirit may seem small compared with witnessing an angel—but those consistent acts of discipleship help us remember God and keep our hearts turned toward Him. Have you ever shared the gospel with someone who seemed completely ready to hear it? Why does the Church place so much emphasis on families?
