Have you ever felt tremendous joy because of someone you love—and deep heartache because of someone else you love? In 1 Nephi 8:2–4, Lehi experiences both. He rejoices because of Nephi and Sam, yet tells Laman and Lemuel, “I fear exceedingly because of you.” Lehi’s experience reminds us that faith doesn’t mean we never worry about the people we love. We can trust God while still grieving their struggles, praying for their choices, and hoping they will find their way back to Him. We cannot control another person’s agency. But we can continue to love, pray, hope, and reach for them—just as Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ never stop reaching for us.
