Have you ever shared the gospel with someone who seemed completely ready to hear it? In this episode of Iron Rod Insights: Ancient Truths for Modern Life, we study 1 Nephi 7:4–5, when Nephi and his brothers invite Ishmael and his family to join them in the wilderness. The scriptures don't tell us that Nephi gave the perfect speech or convinced Ishmael through a powerful argument. Instead, they tell us something much more important: the Lord softened his heart. That's a powerful lesson for missionary work today. Our responsibility isn't to change someone's heart. We share God's word, extend invitations, bear testimony, and love His children. God does the work that we cannot do. And often, He has been preparing someone long before we ever enter their story. So when you feel prompted to invite someone, reach out, or share your testimony, don't put pressure on yourself to create the outcome. Trust that the Lord may already be working in ways you cannot see. Your job is to faithfully share. Then give God room to work.
