  • Ep. 6 | What it's Like to Train at Home w/ Nate Green
    2023/03/13

Today’s guest is a good friend of mine who I’ve known for many years, Nate Green. Nate is a personal trainer for the company Fitness Friend Wellness, which is a very unique coaching business in that you can hire a personal trainer to come to your house, with equipment, and run you through your workout without ever having to step foot in a gym.

Before coaching, Nate had an impressive career in baseball, where he got to play collegiate ball at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, and then professionally in both Australia and Sweden. Because of these experiences, Nate has a very well-rounded perspective of fitness.

In this conversation we discussed the advantages of getting personal training at home, how he designs workouts differently for different clientele, how Nate balances his own fitness with such a busy schedule, and much more.

CrossFit was founded in 2000, and has become one of the most popular fitness programs with over 5 million members across almost 15,000 gyms worldwide. And because it’s so popular, most people have at least heard of CrossFit. But unless you’re one of those 5 million members, you might not know what it’s really like to start CrossFit. So in this episode I got to sit down with Jacob Schmidt to discuss exactly that.

Jacob Schmidt is a personal trainer and CrossFit coach at CrossFit Omnia in Denver Colorado. In addition to all the time he spends helping others with fitness, Jacob is also a professional CrossFit athlete, with experience representing his gym’s team at elite level CrossFit competitions including Wodapalooza and The CrossFit Games.

We covered a lot of ground in this conversation, including his own introduction to CrossFit, what to look for in a gym if you’re considering giving CrossFit a shot, the differences between committing to the sport of CrossFit vs. simply using the CrossFit methodology to improve your overall health, and more! In this first episode of our Research Review series, Daniel sits down to discuss the latest research investigating the effectiveness of “exercise snacks,” which are defined as “isolated, 1-minute or less bouts of vigorous exercise performed periodically throughout the day.” Here’s the link to the full article: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34669625/
