  • Paranormal Activity (2007) | Day 18 of 31 Days of Horror 🎃
    2026/10/18

For Day 18 of 31 Days of Horror, I’m revisiting Oren Peli’s Paranormal Activity — the found-footage nightmare that turns watching two people sleep into a seriously stressful experience.

I’m talking Katie and Micah, the fixed bedroom camera, the escalating disturbances, and those quiet moments that have you searching every corner of the screen. From a tiny movement in the doorway to Katie standing beside the bed, this film makes an ordinary home feel horribly unsafe — while Micah makes decisions that leave me shouting at the fucking screen.

    My rating: 8/10.

31 days. 31 horror movies. Good luck getting any fucking sleep.

  • Carrie (2026) | Day 17 of 31 Days of Horror 🎃
    2026/10/17

I’m talking about the brilliant performances, Carrie’s relationship with her mother, the modern-day bullying, and why I love Flanagan’s approach to horror. From the emotional build-up to the familiar nightmare of prom night, this version made me care about Carrie before everything went to hell.

    My rating: 9/10.

31 days. A television detour. Eight episodes of things going horribly fucking wrong.

  • 28 Days Later (2002) | Day 16 of 31 Days of Horror 🎃
    2026/10/16

An empty London. A devastating infection. And these fuckers don’t shuffle — they run. 🩸

For Day 16 of 31 Days of Horror, I’m revisiting Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later — the brutal survival nightmare that makes waking up alone feel terrifying before the infected even appear.

I’m talking Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, Brendan Gleeson, the deserted streets, and the relentless threat of the Rage virus. From its raw visual style to its bleak look at what people become when society collapses, this film finds horror in both the infected and the survivors.

    My rating: 9/10.

31 days. 31 horror movies. If you hear running, fucking move.

  • The Substance (2024) | Day 15 of 31 Days of Horror 🎃
    2026/10/15

A fading star. A tempting promise. A better version of yourself — with some seriously fucked-up conditions. 💉

For Day 15 of 31 Days of Horror, I’m diving into Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance — a body-horror nightmare about beauty, ageing, and the pressure to stay desirable.

I’m talking Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, Dennis Quaid’s grotesque Hollywood executive, and the increasingly disgusting consequences of chasing perfection. Between the outrageous practical effects, the dark humour, and the escalating chaos, this film takes a simple temptation and pushes it somewhere absolutely revolting.

    My rating: 8/10.

31 days. 31 horror movies. Read the fucking instructions.

  • The Babadook (2014) | Day 14 of 31 Days of Horror 🎃
    2026/10/14

    A grieving mother. A troubled son. A children’s book you’d wish you’d never fucking opened. 📖

For Day 14 of 31 Days of Horror, I’m talking about Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook — an Australian nightmare that brings grief, exhaustion, and fear into the family home.

I’m getting into Essie Davis’s intense performance, Noah Wiseman’s unsettling energy, the sinister storybook, and the shadow hanging over their relationship. With its strange sounds and suffocating atmosphere, this film makes you question whether the greatest threat is the creature in the darkness or the pain they’re struggling to live with.

    My rating: 7/10.

31 days. 31 horror movies. Tonight’s bedtime story can fuck right off.

  • Friday the 13th (1980) | Day 13 of 31 Days of Horror 🎃
    2026/10/13

A summer camp. A group of counsellors. A killer making sure nobody enjoys their fucking stay. 🔪

For Day 13 of 31 Days of Horror, I’m heading to Camp Crystal Lake for the original Friday the 13th — the slasher that kicked off a horror franchise built on terrible camping decisions.

I’m talking about the isolated setting, the bloody practical effects, a young Kevin Bacon, Betsy Palmer, and the mystery surrounding the murders. Before hockey masks became the franchise’s signature, this film kept things simple: someone is watching, the bodies are piling up, and help is miles away.

    My rating: 7/10.

31 days. 31 horror movies. Anyone fancy camping? Yeah, fuck that.

  • The Shining (1980) | Day 12 of 31 Days of Horror 🎃
    2026/10/12

An isolated hotel. A family snowed in. A dad slowly losing his fucking mind. 🪓

For Day 12 of 31 Days of Horror, I’m checking into Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining — where the Overlook Hotel makes every corridor feel like somewhere you really shouldn’t be.

From Jack Nicholson’s terrifying performance to Shelley Duvall’s desperate fight for survival, I’m talking about the creeping dread, Danny’s unsettling visions, those twins, and the images that stay with you long after the credits. This is horror that takes its time getting under your skin.

    My rating: 9/10.

31 days. 31 horror movies. All work and no play… you know how that fucking ends.

  • Saw (2004) | Day 11 of 31 Days of Horror 🎃
    2026/10/11

Two strangers. One filthy bathroom. A game with some seriously brutal rules. 🪚

For Day 11 of 31 Days of Horror, I’m going back to James Wan’s original Saw — the twisted little nightmare that introduced us to Jigsaw.

I’m talking Cary Elwes and Leigh Whannell, the desperate bathroom mystery, the reverse bear trap, Tobin Bell’s chilling presence, and that ending. Before the franchise grew into increasingly elaborate traps, this film built its horror around a simple question: what would you do to survive?

    My rating: 8/10.

31 days. 31 horror movies. Let’s play a fucking game.
