A summer camp. A group of counsellors. A killer making sure nobody enjoys their fucking stay. 🔪
For Day 13 of 31 Days of Horror, I’m heading to Camp Crystal Lake for the original Friday the 13th — the slasher that kicked off a horror franchise built on terrible camping decisions.
I’m talking about the isolated setting, the bloody practical effects, a young Kevin Bacon, Betsy Palmer, and the mystery surrounding the murders. Before hockey masks became the franchise’s signature, this film kept things simple: someone is watching, the bodies are piling up, and help is miles away.
My rating: 7/10.
31 days. 31 horror movies. Anyone fancy camping? Yeah, fuck that.
