    I used to freak out when we would have busy days, or busy seasons, at full capacity - to the point I couldn't even clean up after dinner or at least before I went to bed. I would have thoughts like - "is this just my life now?!" and honestly? The answer is NO. This is not about pressuring ourselves to "be better" - better at cleaning, better at keeping up, or the opposite - better at letting go of the mess, better at being a chill mum. This is about a deeper understanding of ourselves than that.

    I always dreamed of quitting my job and having that classic movie moment where I could hand in my resignation, feeling fed up, tell my boss where to go, and walk out feeling super confident and free, going home to a thriving online business. But... the past 6 years have taught me that the more I dreamt of that, the more I resented my job, and the more I was DESPERATE for something to "work" online, the more I was actually pushing it away. Instead, leaning into small actions, and stayed attuned to my own soul, has been the more realistic image of going for what I want.

    You know those days when you can't be bothered to be a mum? Literally everything feels like too much, it all feels too hard, and you would much rather collapse on the couch with some pancakes than deal with your own children? It’s those days where I always come back to my favourite guiding principle: NAIL. THE. BASICS. If you ran a pub, but you didn’t nail the basics (cold beer, good food, good atmosphere), it wouldn’t matter how much effort you put in - you wouldn’t have a good business. The same goes for mum life.

  • 11. I forgot to take my own medicine and I almost nearly burnt myself out (again)... oops 😅

    Snapping and "losing it" 3 times in the space of a few weeks is firstly not nice for my family, and not a good sign of being exactly mentally healthy for me... plus, if I really am exhausted, I don't exactly have pregnancy to blame this time around (thanks Mirena lol)! So I had to face the facts, look at ways I was going overboard and over-extending myself in my role as a mum, and decide to take the steps to combat it.
