If you’ve ever looked at your changing midlife body and wondered when did this happen? — this book is for you.

Not Done Yet! is a straight-talking, motivating and deeply relatable guide for women who want to feel stronger, healthier, and more confident in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond. No jargon. No judgment. No “just do more cardio”. This is real information, real science and real stories from real women.

You’ll learn why strength training is one of the most powerful tools you have to protect your long-term health — from bone density and muscle loss to weight gain, menopause symptoms, cardiovascular health, diabetes risk, cognitive decline and general “I don’t feel like myself anymore” fatigue. And you’ll understand what’s happening inside your body, why it’s happening, and what you can do about it — starting today.

This isn’t a book about chasing perfection. It’s a book about taking control.

Alongside the science, you’ll meet women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s who thought they were “too old”, “too unfit” or “too far gone” — until they weren’t. Their stories are honest, funny, sometimes emotional and always inspiring. They show exactly what’s possible when you stop believing you’ve missed your chance.

    Inside, you’ll find:

    • the truth about menopause, muscle loss, weight gain and why none of this is your fault
    • how strength training protects your bones, joints, brain, heart and mental health
    • practical, usable guidance on nutrition, protein, carbs, fats, supplements and hydration
    • simple steps to get started — even if you’ve never set foot in a gym
    • confidence checklists, tips for choosing a trainer and finding a gym where you actually belong
    • powerful first-person stories that will stay with you long after you finish the book

If you want to live longer and live better… if you want to stay independent, strong and capable… if you want to feel proud of what your body can do… this book will show you exactly how to get there.

Perfect for yourself — or for any woman you care about who deserves to feel stronger, healthier and more hopeful about her future.

Because ageing is inevitable. Being frail is not.

  • S.4 Ep.9 - THE GOOD & BAD OF OZEMPIC, MOUNJARO & WEGOVY & The Wonders of CREATINE
    2025/06/21

Have a comment? I'd love to hear from you!

THE MATURE MUSCLE PODCAST - Season 4 / Episode 9: OZEMPIC, MOUNJARO & WEGOVY

    (SEMAGLUTIDE & TIRZEPATIDE)

PLUS THE “NEW” WONDERS OF CREATINE MONOHYDRATE

Today we had a chat about the huge increase in people using Mounjaro, Wegovy, and Ozempic . They all injectable medications that contain a glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. This type of medication can treat obesity and manage blood sugar levels. Mounjaro is also a dual agonist, which means it mimics another hormone as well as GLP-1, this other hormone is GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide).

Mounjaro and Wegovy are injections that mimic hormones which send signals to the parts of your brain responsible for appetite and hunger. Wegovy and Mounjaro can help you feel fuller for longer and slow the emptying of your stomach, Mounjaro’s GIP in addition to this helps with weight management by preventing fat from building up. Ozempic, containing GLP-1 has been clinically approved to treat diabetes and helps to regulate blood sugar.

Creatine monohydrate is one of the most well-researched and effective supplements out there. It’s best known for helping people build strength, muscle, and recover faster from exercise. Recent research also shows it can be helpful as we age—especially when combined with strength training—by supporting muscle and bone health. It may also give the brain a small boost, improving memory and mental sharpness in some people, especially older adults. New studies suggest it could help the heart and blood vessels, and even support mood and mental health, though more research is needed in those areas. Overall, it’s a safe and affordable supplement with a wide range of benefits beyond just gym performance.

  • S.4 Ep.8 - Racket Renaissance: Training for Tennis, Padel & Pickleball
    2025/04/10

Have a comment? I'd love to hear from you!

S.4 Ep.8 - Racket Renaissance: Training for Tennis, Padel & Pickleball

Today, we're joined by tennis coach Dan Rippon, we discuss how the sport is making a comeback, and how two new variations are taking the world including the UK, by storm. We also chat about specific training for it, injury prevention, prehab and rehab.

The two popular racket sports gaining traction, often seen as "new tennis types," are Padel (also known as Padel Tennis) and Pickleball. Padel is a doubles-focused game played on a smaller, enclosed court with walls, while Pickleball is similar to tennis but uses a paddle and a plastic ball on a smaller court.

    A more detailed comparison:

    Padel:

    • Similar to: A mix of tennis and squash, played on a smaller, enclosed court with walls.
    • Court: Smaller than a tennis court, enclosed with walls.
    • Racket: Uses a solid racket, similar to a platform tennis paddle.
    • Ball: Uses a pressure-filled ball similar to a tennis ball, but slightly softer.
    • Serve: Underhand serve
    • Scoring: Same as tennis
    • Popularity: A rapidly growing sport worldwide.
    • Playing the walls: Players can use the walls to bounce the ball.

    Pickleball:

    • Similar to: A cross between tennis, badminton, and table tennis.
    • Court: Smaller than a tennis court.
    • Racket: Uses a paddle.
    • Ball: Uses a plastic ball with holes.
    • Serve: Underhand serve.
    • Scoring: Similar to tennis, but with a "double-hit" rule.
    • Popularity: Gaining significant popularity in recent years.

  • S.4 Ep.6 - "NEW YEAR, NEW ME" & Other Bullsh*t! Introducing New Co-host Aaron
    2025/02/01

Have a comment? I'd love to hear from you!

Welcome to the first episode of 2025. Apologies for the delay since Ep.5. I was in Nepal climbing mountains over November and December...

In this episode, I welcome Aaron Hopkins, sucessful PT and gym owner. I interviewed him a few months ago and we had a great laugh and were very much of the same mind when discussing all things health/fitness. He will be joining me as co-host, so i'm really looking forward to recording with him.

Find out more about Aaron here: https://www.pt-u.co.uk/

    Amongst other things, we discussed:

New Year New Me! (yawn!) Setting 2025 Health Goals: Discussing how to set realistic and achievable health goals for the new year. Fads like Dry January etc - more harm than Good?

People starting new habits : Nutrition Trends: Exploring emerging nutrition trends for 2025, such as plant-based diets, intermittent fasting, or personalised nutrition plans.

Effective Workout Routines: Highlighting new and effective workout routines or exercises for different fitness levels and goals.

Doing too much, at one time: Motivation and Accountability: Strategies for staying motivated and accountable throughout the year.

Tech and Fitness: Discussing the role of technology and apps in monitoring fitness progress and enhancing workouts. Big business, but data for data’s sake? Watches, rings, apps, HRV useful:

Over Christmas, we had a great question from a listener, we discussed this too:

"Sleep/nutrition/rest are critically important, especially when compared to our younger days. So my question for the podcast is this: Because there are now more mature people training harder than ever before, are we entering uncharted territority in terms of our awareness of training/recovery for middle -aged athletes? Sure, there have been a small number of older athletes for a long time, but I suspect there have never before been so many middle-aged, 'normal' folk who are continuing to train hard alongside their daily lives. Is the coaching/nutrition industry up to speed on this? Is it even being recognised, let alone being catered for?"
