  • The Death Certificate Was Wrong
    2023/10/04

We had a cause of death, but it was incorrect and caused huge problems when dealing with insurance. • Official Cause of Death
    2023/09/19

We finally had the official autopsy report and the death certificate. We finally had answers, but what do you do when it's very clear that the official ruling on the cause of death is inaccurate based on the autopsy itself AND that ruling affects your finances and ability to move forward? Join us as we read through Erick's final autopsy report, what he died from at the age of 38, the police investigation, and share our feelings just prior to the release of his death certificate and after when we realized the medical examiner clearly allowed personal bias to interfere with the facts of the autopsy, which lead to an official cause of death that changed everything moving forward.

Trigger Warning: Topics covered include drug use, alcohol abuse, and suicide.

  • Relapse, Guilt, and Regret
    2023/09/04

Erick relapsed three weeks prior to his sudden death. This episode is emotional for both of us as Isack shares deeply personal regrets about the things that he said to Erick during this time. Suzy talks about how easy it is to play the "What if?" game around things that could have been done that may have changed the outcome and we both share our feelings of guilt in the things that were left unresolved due to his sudden death in the midst of this crisis.

  • Healthy Coping Mechanisms
    2023/08/22
The journey continues. In this episode, we address questions we've been getting about how we deal with talking about what happened so openly, publicly, and vulnerably. How we cope with the memories brought back to the surface while sharing this huge loss and tragedy that has entirely shifted and forever changed our lives. We share the healthy coping mechanisms we individually have implemented during the production of this podcast and the coping mechanisms we incorporate into our daily lives that help us deal with the intense grief and loss we've experienced. Then we pick right back up in the journey to the days and months after Erick returned home from detox and what happened after that. How even Erick himself started to focus on addressing the core issues he had been avoiding and started to embrace coping strategies like boundaries, accountability, therapy, and even mental health medications in the short amount of time leading up to his sudden and accidental death. • Alcohol Addiction
    2023/07/31
The day we finally find out what really has been going on with Erick for several months prior. This episode comes with some heavy topics. We explore the slippery slope of alcohol addiction and how the ease of access and social acceptability contribute to the challenges people face around alcohol. We also discuss why alcohol is commonly used as a social lubricant and how that can play into the larger problem for those struggling with anxiety. In this episode, we reference a recent podcast episode by Dr. Jordan B. Peterson so here are the links: YouTube Clip Referenced: https://youtu.be/Szj4Zer3UCA Full Episode (Spotify): https://open.spotify.com/episode/2AhbLmkUebu1s0xQS9QEe2?si=e1ba9524bb6741fe If you are struggling with mental health, you can find resources at NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness): https://www.nami.org If you would like more information on alcohol and alcohol abuse, check out the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism: https://www.niaaa.nih.gov All our Socials, Merch, & ways to support the podcast 👇🏻https://linktr.ee/itsgoingpodcast
