  • Ep9 - The Art of Accepting & Allowing
    2024/06/13

In mindfulness, acceptance and allowing are best mates!

Together, they form a solid foundation from which we can be fully present for life.

But of course, acceptance can be hard to, well, accept!

In this episode, I’ll explain the importance of acceptance and how, when it’s combined with mindfully allowing things to be as they are, helps us to have a happier and healthier relationship with our circumstances.

  • Ep8 - How To Be Non-Judgmental
    2024/06/07

A non-judging mind is a happier mind. And being non-judgmental is a core attitude of mindfulness.

BUT being non-judgmental doesn’t mean not having judging thoughts.

As long as you’re breathing, judgements will arise.

In this episodes I explain what being non-judgmental really means AND how to practice it.

  • EP7 - What Is Equanimity?
    2024/05/29

Often, the biggest challenge we face is not what is actually happening, but that we struggle to relate to what's happening with a calm and balanced mind.

One of the core qualities mindfulness helps us to cultivate

    is the state of equanimity.

In this episode, I'll explain what equanimity is, what it isn't, and why it's an essential aspect of the path of wisdom and happiness.

  • Ep6 - Feeling Tone (Vedana) - Unravelling Reactivity
    2024/02/28

Have you ever wondered why you can sometimes be so reactive or impulsive? In this episode we'll explore an aspect of the human experience that's so influential on our behaviour and wellbeing that the Buddha, himself, listed it as one of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness. Feeling Tone. Understanding (and practicing) this is instrumental in creating the space we need to respond rather than react.

  • Ep5 - Don’t Know Mind
    2024/02/21

Could this be the KEY to less disappointment and frustration in your life? How often do you feel agitated by things not working out the way to you want or expect? Do you ever say, "It shouldn't be like this?" Do you curse your luck when your perfectly planned parade gets well and truly rained on? There's no getting away from the crappiness of circumstances working against your preferences, hopes and expectations. But it IS possible to practice softening that blow AHEAD OF TIME. Not by becoming cynical or expecting the worst. But by staying open, interested and attentive to the flow of life AS IT'S UNFOLDING. By swapping frustration for fascination, we can learn to harness an attitude of acceptance and flexibility, freeing us up to make the most of whatever transpires. 2024/02/07

Developing the willingness and ability to ‘let go’ of unhelpful thoughts, judgements, feelings and emotions is central to the practice of mindfulness. But the concept of letting go is fraught with myth and misinterpretation. In this episode, I’ll share some useful distinctions for what mindfully letting go really means. Listen out for the subtle change of language you can experiment with to make letting go a more easeful process.
