Joining us at Audible Studios is Kerry Daynes, an English forensic psychologist and consultant who has worked as an expert witness and within the family law courts as well as opening her own private practices. Daynes has released her new book, The Dark Side of the Mind: True Stories from My Life as a Forensic Psychologist. Kerry Dayes has worked in maximum security prisons and secure hospitals, working alongside some of the most complex and challenging criminals and victims of crime. 

Joining us in the Audible Studios to talk about his narration of the classic Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist is Welsh actor Jonathan Pryce. Dickens' second published novel, Oliver Twist, has been adapted numerous times. Following orphan Oliver from the workhouse to the streets of London, he meets a pickpocket known as the Artful Dodger, who offers him shelter. There we meet Fagin, Nancy and Bill Sikes. Oliver’s innocence is tested as he witnesses the darker side of London.  

Joining us at Audible Studios is Anne Griffin, debut author of the next great Irish novel, When All Is Said. Griffin’s novel depicts an Irish farmer who orders five drinks over the course of one night to toast each of the five most important people in his life. His life is laid bare, in its loves and feuds, regrets and triumphs, all through the five people who have left him behind. We spoke about her inspiration for the book, her literary career so far and what her plans are for the future.   

Joining us at Audible Studios is Candice Carty-Williams, senior marketing executive at Vintage books and author of Queenie. Queenie is a relatable, darkly comic take on a Jamaican-British woman living in London trying to recover from a messy breakup, gain some attention among all the white middle class peers at her newspaper job and, most of all, fit into two different cultures. We spoke about her motivations for writing Queenie, her career, the lack of diversity in publishing and what she is planning on doing next.

Samuel narrates the 1990 Booker Prize winner, Possession by A. S. Byatt, an exhilarating novel of wit and romance. It is the tale of a pair of young scholars researching the lives of two Victorian poets, uncovering their letters, journals, and poems, tracking their movements from London to Yorkshire, showing an extraordinary counterpoint of passions and ideas. In this interview, Samuel tells us about Possession, what he likes about narrating, what it was like growing up in a family of actors and what he’s working on next.  

Joining us in the Audible Studios to discuss her first book, When the Dogs Don't Bark, is forensic scientist Professor Angela Gallop. Angela also talks to us about the importance of advancements in forensic technology, her own intriguing career, including her involvement in many high-profile criminal cases, and the recent trend for professional memoirs.

Joining us at Audible Studios is Sian Thomas, a well-renowned actor on stage, in television and in films, and a regular audiobook narrator. She told us about her incredible career so far, her plans for the future and her role narrating the Mother in Fiona Barton’s new novel, The Suspect. After studying Journalism at the University of Central Lancashire, Stacey worked as an assistant editor at We Love This Book magazine and a media editor at the Bookseller magazine, as well as writing for Psychologies, The Independent, and Fabulous magazine, where she is now Deputy Chief Sub-Editor. Alongside editorial work, Stacey has written her first novel, an exciting historical fiction set within the drama of the 1612 Pendle witch trials.

Something has gone wrong with the workings of the world, and Oliver shares insight on the current situation in Moneyland. From his time living in Russia to the books he has written since, we discuss our current political and economic situation, key moments in history that lead to now, and his many years of research into this topics.

Angela tells us how she came up for the idea, a bit about her protagonist, Jenna, and the importance of her fanbase. On My Life: ‘When a pregnant woman is imprisoned on suspicion of murder, she must fight to prove her innocence from behind bars or her baby may be given away to whoever framed her...’  

An established actress across stage, screen and radio, Celia Imrie is most well known for her collaborations with Victoria Wood, including the spoof Acorn Antiques. With notable film appearances including Bridget Jones’s Diary, Calendar Girls and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Imrie has now narrated and published her latest audiobook, Sail Away. Celia Imrie talks to us about her new book, what we can expect from it and her successful and varied career as an actress.

Joining us in the Audible Studios to talk about her narration of Mary Elizabeth Braddon’s The Christmas Hirelings is BAFTA Award-winning British actress Jennifer Saunders. Appearing on our screens since the '80s, Jennifer has written numerous scripts for film, television and stage as well as appearing in many of them. Markus Zusak visits Audible to discuss his latest novel, the much-awaited Bridge of Clay, 13 years after his last book published. In Bridge of Clay, listeners will be transported to Australia and follow the story of five brothers living in a house without grown-ups. Melanie’s memoir is a compelling, frank and inspirational story of a woman who has lived through many challenges but refuses to be shamed any more. In this interview, Mel spoke to us about revisiting painful memories in writing her memoir, the process of casting the audiobook and the feedback she's got already from her nearest and dearest.   

Joining us in the Audible Studios to talk about not one but two recent audio projects is actor and comedian Matt Lucas. Matt is well known for Little Britain and Come Fly with Me but has many more strings to his bow - adding the narration of Charles’ Dickens epic Great Expectations to his achievements, along with performing Fagin in the audio drama Dodge and Twist. At a finished time of 20 hours and 39 minutes long, narrating Great Expectations was no mean feat. It has, though, been met with rave reviews - so time well spent!  

Joining us in the Audible Studios to talk about her book The Tattooist of Auschwitz is Australian writer Heather Morris. Whilst working as a social work administrator, Heather Morris studied and wrote screenplays. After meeting an elderly man called Lale Sokolov, Heather used his story as inspiration for a screenplay, which has now been published as a novel, The Tattooist of Auschwitz. Heather Morris talks to us about her book, the man who inspired it and what we can expect from her next.
