Er ist der deutsche Dichterkönig schlechthin: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832). Monologisch erzählt er, was er am Morgen erlebt hat. Oder hat er es vielleicht nur geträumt? Das Gedicht wurde in der Musik mehrmals thematisiert; Debussys sinfonische Dichtung ist weltberühmt.

Er gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Dichter und Zeichner Deutschlands: Wilhelm Busch (1832 - 1908). Als Wegbereiter des Comics zeichnete und dichtete er Klassiker wie "Max und Moritz" sowie "Die fromme Helene". John Donne was born on the 22nd January 1572 in London, into a Roman Catholic family when Catholicism was illegal in England, and there was turbulence and unrest with both state and church throughout much of Europe. During the 1590s, Donne wrote a wide range of verses, including both erotic and sacred poems, creating two major volumes of work. His strong vivacious and sensual style fusing intellect and passion, as well as inventive use of subtle argument and syntax, provided a new radical perspective that reached beyond his contemporaries.

Emily Dickinson was one of the most reclusive of all poets. She spent much of her life in seclusion in her father’s house in Amherst, and only a handful of her 1800 poems were published in her lifetime. Credit for the posthumous publication of her work must be given to her editor and friend Thomas W. Higginson, who reported that, in spite of the voluminous correspondence which passed between himself and Dickinson, he only met her twice in person.
