  • When the Phone Stops Ringing
    2026/10/12

There was a time when I was constantly doing something with friends. Whether it was going out, hanging out at somebody's house, or just getting together for no particular reason, there was always something going on. These days, things look a lot different.

In this episode of Unfinished, I talk about how friendships change as we get older, how getting sober and becoming a father have changed my social life, and what it's like feeling like I'm always the one reaching out to make plans.

It's not that I don't have friends anymore. Sometimes I just wish somebody would think to reach out to me first.

We talk about the difference between having friends and feeling included, the effort it takes to maintain relationships, and figuring out what friendship looks like in this stage of life.

Because sometimes it's not about needing somebody to hang out with. It's just about wanting to know somebody thought about you.

  • The Weight of What If
    2026/09/28

Content Advisory: This episode contains discussions of substance use, fentanyl, fatal overdose, grief, and guilt.

What if I'd knocked on the door? What if I'd stayed a little longer? What if I'd done something differently?

A few years ago, I lost a friend to a fentanyl-related overdose. What made his passing especially difficult was knowing that I had been sitting outside his house just days before learning what happened, potentially while he was inside overdosing.

For years, I carried the guilt of believing I could have prevented his death.

In this episode of Unfinished, I share that experience, the fear that kept me from opening up about it, and how my journey through sobriety has helped me begin understanding the difference between taking accountability for my actions and blaming myself for things I couldn't have known.

We talk about grief, hindsight, self-forgiveness, and the weight of unanswered questions.

Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is yourself.

  • Who Are You Trying to Impress?
    2026/09/21

How much of what we’re chasing is actually for us, and how much of it is about proving something to someone else?

In this episode of Unfinished, I take a look at where that need to prove ourselves comes from. Maybe it’s an ex, someone who doubted us, people from our past, or even a younger version of ourselves. Sometimes that “watch me” mentality can be exactly what we need to get moving, but what happens when we finally prove them wrong?

At some point, the question has to change from “Did I prove them wrong?” to “Am I building a life I actually want?”

So ask yourself: If nobody was watching, nobody was keeping score, and the person you most wanted to impress would never find out… would you still want it?

We’re all still becoming. We are all still unfinished.

  • What If It Actually Works?
    2026/09/16

I’m getting closer to finishing my degree, something I’ve been working toward for years. I always thought getting this close would feel exciting. And it does. But lately, there’s been something else mixed in with that excitement: fear.

Last week, I talked about starting before you’re ready and how fear of failure can keep us from taking the first step. But what happens when you take that step, keep going, and suddenly realize you might actually succeed?

In this episode, I talk about imposter syndrome, questioning whether I actually know enough to enter my career, and the strange fear that comes with getting exactly what you’ve been working toward.

I don’t have a lesson for this one. I’m still in it.

    Maybe that’s the point.

    What if it actually works?

  • What Are You Waiting For?
    2026/09/07

How often do we tell ourselves we’ll do something when we’re finally “ready”?

In this episode of Unfinished, I talk about what being ready actually means and whether that feeling ever really comes before the things that matter.

I look back at becoming a dad, going back to school, and even starting this podcast. Three completely different parts of my life, but none of them started because I suddenly felt completely confident or knew exactly what I was doing.

There’s a difference between being prepared and feeling ready. Sometimes there are real reasons we need to wait. But sometimes preparation becomes a hiding place, and we keep moving the starting line because we’re waiting for the fear and uncertainty to disappear.

Maybe the question isn’t, “Am I ready?”

Maybe it’s, “Am I ready enough to take the next step?”

  • Common Grounds with Keith - The Path to His Dream Job
    2026/08/31

☕ Welcome to the first Common Grounds episode of Unfinished.

Common Grounds is where I sit down with someone over a cup of coffee and have the same kind of honest conversations that Unfinished is built around—except this time, you get to hear a perspective other than mine.

For this first one, I'm joined by my friend Keith.

🛤️ Keith has spent years working toward a career he genuinely wanted, and we talk about the path that got him there—the decisions he made, the work it took, the setbacks along the way, and what it's actually like when something you've been chasing starts becoming real.

But this conversation isn't just about Keith's career.

🧭 It's about figuring out what you want and finding your direction.

🔨 It's about putting in the work when there's no guarantee it's going to pay off.

🎯 And it's about what happens when the thing you've been chasing starts getting closer to becoming your reality.

Because having a dream is one thing.

What does it actually take to chase it?

  • What Happens When It Gets Quiet?
    2026/08/24

What Happens When It Gets Quiet?

There’s a difference between being alone and feeling lonely.

A couple of months ago, my life changed pretty quickly. A relationship ended, I moved out on my own for the first time, and on the days I didn’t have my daughter, I found myself coming home to something I wasn’t prepared for:

    Silence.

In this episode of Unfinished, I talk about loneliness, one particularly difficult night that forced me to sit with everything I was feeling, and what started happening when I stopped trying to escape the quiet.

Because as uncomfortable as silence can be, sometimes it gives us the space to hear the things we’ve been avoiding.

The quiet hasn’t disappeared. But somewhere along the way, some of it started to feel a little less lonely—and a little more peaceful.

So this week’s question is: What happens when it gets quiet?

  • What Are You Teaching Them?
    2026/08/17

    What Are You Teaching Them?

As parents, we spend a lot of time thinking about the lessons we want to teach our kids. But what are they learning from us when we're not intentionally teaching them anything?

In this episode of Unfinished, I talk about the pressure I put on myself to be a good dad while still figuring out my own life. After a difficult bedtime moment with my daughter forces me to confront the way I handled my own emotions, I reflects on mistakes, accountability, apologizing to our kids, and breaking patterns from our own childhoods.

Because maybe being a good parent isn't about getting everything right.

Maybe it's about showing our kids what it looks like when we get it wrong—and what we choose to do next.

So this week, the question is: What are you teaching them?
