Today’s episode of The Monster Catchers Journal is about one of the strangest Glyphs I have ever encountered…

Gatoroon.

At first glance Gatoroon looks adorable, but trust me, this little Riftborn is far more powerful than he looks. Gatoroon has the head of a small alligator with sharp glowing blue eyes and huge bunny-like ears that can sense dimensional energy from miles away. His body is soft and fox-like with golden fur, and he has a massive fluffy squirrel tail that helps him balance while jumping between cliffs and crystal trees.

But what makes Gatoroon truly special is the fact that he’s a Riftborn Glyph.

Riftborns are extremely ancient creatures connected to dimensional fractures hidden deep beneath Nibiru. Most people thought they were just myths buried in old academy records. Even Orion and Team Constellation were hunting Gatoroon because of the power he carries inside him.

Gatoroon is naturally curious and playful, but when frightened his ears release unstable Rift energy capable of opening small dimensional cracks. Luckily he’s still young, so the fractures usually close quickly on their own.

One funny thing I learned very quickly is that Gatoroon LOVES shiny objects. The second we got back to the sanctuary he stole three forks, Luna’s scanner, and one of Aurabeak’s favorite gemstones and hid them all under my bed using his fluffy tail.

Aurabeak still hasn’t forgiven him.

Despite being a Riftborn, Gatoroon is actually incredibly affectionate. He likes riding on my shoulders, wrapping his squirrel tail around my neck, and sleeping beside Aurabeak near the sanctuary fireplace.

As for his abilities, Gatoroon can use:

• Rift Pulse
• Tail Bounce
• Sonic Growl
• Shadow Hop
• Dimensional Chirp

And his strongest move so far…

Rift Crack.

A move that briefly tears open reality itself.

Honestly?

That’s slightly terrifying.

But even with all that power, Gatoroon is still just a baby trying to understand a world completely different from his own. His mother trusted me enough to leave him behind on Nibiru…

And I don’t plan on letting that trust go to waste.

Spinewraith is a massive ancient Ocean/Haunt Glyph said to dwell beneath the glowing trenches of Nibiru’s western cliffs. Its body is covered in jagged floating spikes made from hardened abyssal bone, each one capable of channeling powerful sound vibrations through the ocean itself. Despite its terrifying appearance, Spinewraith is not naturally aggressive and is actually a deeply protective parent that watches over both its territory and its young.

For centuries legends spoke of a cursed “bone flute” hidden beneath the cliffs. Many believed the flute controlled Spinewraith, but the truth is far stranger. The so-called bone flute was never an instrument at all. It was one of Spinewraith’s missing spinal spikes torn from its body long ago. Without it, Spinewraith became unstable and incomplete until Stelliferous finally returned the spike to its rightful place.

Once restored, all of Spinewraith’s armor regenerated and the guardian regained its full strength.

Spinewraith communicates through haunting calls that echo across the ocean trenches. These sounds can calm storms, disorient enemies, or summon its babies from beneath the depths. When threatened, the spikes along its body lift and release powerful sonic waves capable of shattering cliffsides.

Despite its intimidating nature, Spinewraith has shown incredible intelligence and emotion. It recognizes kindness, remembers betrayal, and fiercely protects its children from danger. After Team Constellation attempted to capture its babies, Spinewraith became cautious around strangers, though it eventually learned to trust Stelliferous, Luna, Zena, Astra, and their Glyphs completely.

Its babies are much smaller, rounder versions of the guardian with tiny unfinished spikes and playful personalities. They are known for stealing food, especially marshmallows.

Many tourists now travel to the glowing cliffs hoping to catch a glimpse of the legendary “Cliff Guardian,” though strict warnings exist against attempting to remove the restored spinal spike from Spinewraith’s body.

Because if there is one thing everyone on Nibiru has learned…

You do not steal from the giant ocean parent.

I never expected one of the most terrifying Haunt Glyphs on Nibiru to become one of my closest companions. Boopop first appeared outside our underground sanctuary deep within the desert, surrounded by mountains of candy and ghostly spirits. At first everyone believed it was a dangerous monster attacking innocent people, but the truth was heartbreaking.

Long ago an ancient Veil Storm destroyed entire Halloween festival cities across Nibiru. Thousands of children lost their lives that night, and their sorrow and fear eventually formed the Haunt Glyph now known as Boopop. The Council of Elders covered up the disaster for centuries and secretly hunted Boopop because it carried memories of what truly happened.

When me, Luna, Astra, and Aurabeak confronted the ghostly Glyph, Boopop attacked us with terrifying candy illusions and phantom spirits. But during the battle I realized it wasn’t evil. It was scared, lonely, and hiding from the same people responsible for abandoning it long ago.

After protecting Boopop from the Council and driving them away from the sanctuary, the little ghost Glyph chose to stay with me. Despite its creepy powers and haunting appearance, Boopop turned out to be strangely sweet and affectionate. It loves floating beside me, booping my head, and dropping candy everywhere inside the sanctuary much to Astra’s annoyance.

Boopop may be a powerful Haunt Glyph born from tragedy, but now it finally has a family.

While exploring the ancient underground sanctuary city beneath the Inado Desert with Luna, Zena, Astra, Sharlamur, Aura Beak, and Chuko, I encountered a mysterious crystal wolf like Glyph hiding within the glowing ruins. At first Cryoshard seemed dangerous, attacking us from the shadows with razor-sharp crystal attacks and incredible speed.

But the deeper we explored the sanctuary, the more I realized Cryoshard wasn’t trying to hurt us. It was trying to warn us about something far worse hidden beneath the city.

Things quickly spiraled out of control when we accidentally awakened Cetelur, a legendary ancient fusion creature capable of destroying entire underground civilizations. As the sanctuary began collapsing around us, Cryoshard chose to stand and protect us instead of fleeing.

That’s when I finally understood it.

Cryoshard wasn’t our enemy.

After earning its trust, I successfully captured the crystal wolf Glyph and added it to my growing team. Along the way we also renamed the ancient robot guardian Chuko and uncovered shocking secrets about the sanctuary city, Cetelur, and my connection to Nibiru’s lost royal bloodline.

About Episode: squrlitone

squrlitone is a rare, newly stabilized glyph that was first discovered during a period of heavy energy disruption affecting the floating island ecosystems. unlike most glyphs, squrlitone does not come from a clearly known creature type instead, it appears to be a hybrid anomaly formed when corrupted environmental energy merged with a small, resilient forest-based lifeform.

at its core, squrlitone resembles a small squirrel-like glyph with a spiral-patterned tail that constantly shifts between soft glowing strands and stone-like segments. its body looks partly organic and partly mineral, giving it a crystal-like, living appearance. the most noticeable feature is its tail, which slowly rotates like a contained vortex, allowing it to absorb unstable energy from its surroundings.

at first, squrlitone was unstable and unpredictable, flickering between harmless behavior and sudden bursts of chaotic energy. during this phase, it was accidentally named “squrlitone” by astra, who noticed its spiral tail movement and stone-like resonance during its first calming cycle. the name stuck immediately, as the glyph responded positively to it, suggesting a rare emotional-link bond between tamer and glyph.

after the moranouge energy virus incident, squrlitone played a key role in stabilizing the remaining corruption within the island. it acts like a natural filter, drawing in broken energy patterns and compressing them into harmless, dormant fragments within its spiral core.

despite its small size, squrlitone is considered an anchor-class stabilization glyph, meaning it helps maintain balance in environments affected by energy decay or viral contamination. it is not built for combat, but its strength comes from neutralizing chaos rather than fighting it directly.

behaviorally, squrlitone is curious, calm, and unusually attached to astra and the group. it often follows closely during travel and prefers resting near water or warm stone where energy flow feels stable.

researchers (and your group) have noticed that squrlitone grows stronger when exposed to emotional balance and teamwork rather than raw power, suggesting it is deeply connected to harmony-based energy systems.

for now, squrlitone remains a companion glyph small, quiet, and quietly essential to keeping the floating island stable.

PangolarkDeep beneath the burning sands of the Inado Desert, strange tremors begin shaking the underground sanctuary house. After discovering massive claw marks circling the sanctuary walls, Stelliferous, Luna, Zena, Astra, and Sharlamur set out to investigate the mysterious creature responsible.

The team soon encounters the dangerous Pangolark, a powerful Glyph that is a cross between a pangolin and an aardvark. Covered in heavy armor-like scales, the Pangolark can detach razor-sharp spikes from its back and launch them like spinning throwing stars capable of slicing through crystal stone. As the battle erupts across the desert dunes, the team quickly realizes this is no ordinary wild Glyph.

Things become even more dangerous when Pangolark babies are discovered hiding beneath nearby cliffs. The adult Pangolark was not attacking out of cruelty—it was desperately protecting its young from what lurks below the sands.

After Stelliferous earns the creature’s trust and captures the Pangolark, a hidden fissure opens beneath the sanctuary, revealing an ancient underground city buried beneath Nibiru for centuries. There the team encounters the gigantic Alpha Pangolark, an ancient guardian tied to the forgotten sanctuary ruins and the mysterious Veil hidden beneath the planet.

As ancient robots awaken and terrifying truths about Stelliferous’s family begin coming to light, the team realizes the Pangolarks were never the true threat.

Something far worse has awakened beneath the desert.

I’ve met dangerous glyphs before.

Massive ones. Violent ones. Even ancient ones capable of wiping entire settlements off the map. But nothing has ever unsettled me quite like the Time Jag.

Not because it’s aggressive.

Because it remembers.

The first time we saw one was high within the freezing cliffs of Frostspine Reach. At first it almost looked peaceful perched against the snow-covered mountains beneath the three moons. Its galaxy-like feathers shimmered like living stars and the compass embedded in its chest spun endlessly while it watched us silently from above.

Then it teleported.

No warning.

No sound.

One second it was on the cliff.

The next it was beside us.

And honestly? Meerno fainting was a completely reasonable response.

Time Jags are incredibly intelligent bird glyphs capable of teleporting anywhere across the known map of Nibiru. The living compass within their chest acts almost like a biological navigation system, allowing them to instantly travel to locations they remember.

And that’s the terrifying part.

They never forget.

A Time Jag has near-perfect photographic memory. Faces. Voices. Locations. Emotions. Once they encounter something, they remember it forever. If you show kindness to one, they can become fiercely loyal companions. But if you harm one…

You better hope it never decides to come looking for you.

Because it will find you.

No matter where you hide.

The Time Jag we rescued turned out to be far more emotional than I expected. Despite its incredible power, it behaved almost like a nervous oversized bird around people it trusted. It loves warm starbound muffins, shiny objects, and sitting on my head when I’m trying to work.

Which it does constantly.

Luna says it’s adorable.

Astra says it’s a cosmic menace.

Both are correct.

Unfortunately our encounter with the Time Jag also led us directly back to Professor Orion. We discovered he had been experimenting on Time Jags for years, using the compass energy within their bodies to power his mechanical arm and teleportation research.

To this day the Time Jag still becomes nervous whenever it hears metallic noises or sees glowing compass symbols.

But despite everything Orion put them through…

Time Jags are not cruel creatures.

They protect each other.

They remember kindness.

And when threatened, entire flocks will come to each other’s aid instantly.

I learned that the hard way when Orion got blasted into the sky like a rocket.

Overall? The Time Jag is probably one of the most fascinating glyphs we’ve ever encountered. Beautiful, intelligent, emotional, and honestly a little terrifying.

Also if one ever stares at you for too long?

Be nice to it.

Trust me on that one.

Most people only see the glowing waves and endless reefs beneath the twin suns and three eternal moons. They never see what waits beneath the surface.

Today’s episode takes us to one of the most dangerous places I’ve ever visited… Velmora Reef Island.

An abandoned research island surrounded by jagged cliffs, violent tides, and whispers of creatures lurking beneath the waves.

What started as a simple ocean expedition quickly became one of the most emotional Glyph encounters our team has ever experienced.

Deep within the hidden Cave of Velthor, we discovered a mysterious aquatic mammal Glyph known as the Sharlamur — a powerful shark lemur hybrid capable of creating tidal waves strong enough to destroy entire ships.

At first, the Sharlamur attacked us without hesitation, sinking our raft and nearly trapping us inside the flooded cave forever. But the truth behind its aggression was something none of us expected.

It wasn’t protecting territory.

It was protecting its eggs.

As we learned more about the creature, we discovered the Sharlamur is actually highly intelligent and deeply emotional, only becoming violent when its children are threatened. Using moves like Shark Attack, Tail Spin, Fin Win, and Sharp Eye, this ocean guardian proved why it is feared throughout the Moonwake Ocean.

But surprisingly…

The one person it connected with most wasn’t me.

It was Astra.

For the first time since joining our team, Astra finally found a companion who understood her loneliness. After gaining the Sharlamur’s trust using red kelp and patience instead of force, she successfully bonded with the aquatic Glyph and became its official caretaker.

But our adventure didn’t end there.

After our boat was destroyed, we were forced to explore the abandoned Velmora research facility in search of a way home — only to awaken a horrifying swarm of ancient cave Glyphs hidden beneath the island.

And at the center of it all…

The monstrous Abyssarach.

If not for the Sharlamur, I honestly don’t think we would’ve survived.

This episode explores trust, fear, motherhood, and the bonds that form between Glyphs and Catchers when compassion is stronger than fear.

And honestly?

I don’t think Astra was alone anymore after that day.
