Welcome to The Mind & Us – Simplifying Mental Health
Welcome to the very first episode of The Mind & Us , a podcast dedicated to making mental health easier to understand through honest, evidence-based conversations.
Mental health affects every one of us, whether personally or through someone we care about. Yet it remains one of the most misunderstood topics in society. At The Mind & Us, our mission is simple: to break down complex mental health topics into clear, balanced, and accessible discussions that everyone can understand.
In this introductory episode, you'll discover why this podcast was created, what inspired it, and what you can expect from future episodes. We share our vision of building a trusted space where mental health can be discussed openly, respectfully, and without judgement or stigma.
Whether you're living with a mental health condition, supporting a loved one, working in healthcare, studying, or simply interested in learning more, this podcast is for you.
Future episodes will feature conversations with psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses, therapists, researchers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals, alongside people with lived experience of mental health conditions. Together, we'll explore topics including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, autism, personality disorders, trauma, addiction, psychological therapies, medication, recovery, well-being, and the latest evidence-based approaches to mental healthcare.
Your host is an experienced Mental Health Nurse, Independent and Supplementary Prescriber, Fellow of Higher Education (FHEA), and law graduate with many years of experience working across mental health services. Throughout a career dedicated to supporting people experiencing mental illness, one belief has remained constant: education has the power to reduce stigma, challenge misconceptions, and empower people to seek help when they need it.
By combining clinical expertise with real-life experiences, The Mind & Us aims to provide balanced, compassionate conversations that educate, inform, and inspire. We believe that understanding mental health benefits individuals, families, workplaces, schools, and communities, helping to create a society where seeking support is viewed as a strength, not a weakness.
