Everyone is talking about nervous system dysregulation right now, and most of the advice is missing the point. Jumping jacks, breathing tricks, and a big hug will not fix a nervous system that has been stuck in overdrive for years. As a health and neuropsychologist, I want to show you why the quick tips trending online are not enough, and what actually needs to happen for lasting change.

In this episode, I'm going to break down why trendy nervous system tips fail, what an overactivated nervous system really is, and the filter you need to spot advice that will actually help you.

0:00 Stop Trying to “Regulate” Your Nervous System. Do This Instead.
    0:44 My background in neuropsychology
1:13 Why more awareness of nervous system issues is a good thing
1:47 Why quick tips and tricks fall short
2:47 The yearly buzzword pattern around burnout and dysregulation
3:36 Why you need real specialists for brain and body health
4:26 Why tips and tricks do not fix a complex nervous system
6:20 The biggest red flag in nervous system advice
7:18 What an overactivated nervous system really means
8:08 Why you must reset and retrain, not just regulate once

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

What is nervous system dysregulation actually caused by?
Nervous system dysregulation happens when your body starts treating everyday stressors like real danger, keeping it stuck in an overactivated, always on state. This buildup happens over years, which is why quick fixes do not resolve it.

Why do nervous system regulation tips not work long term?
Quick tips like breathing exercises or shaking it out can help briefly, but they do not retrain a nervous system that has been overactivated for years. Lasting change requires a personalized, step by step system that resets and retrains the brain and body together.

How do you know if nervous system advice is trustworthy?
Trustworthy advice explains the why behind your specific situation and offers a structured, personalized system rather than a single trick. If someone hands out the same tip to everyone, it is a sign the advice is not built for complex, long term nervous system issues.

  • You Don't Have Adult ADHD. Here's The Real Reason Women Can’t Focus.
    2026/08/27

📌 Discover the real root cause of overwhelm and how to reset your nervous system: https://powerperformanceplan.com/registrationyt

Wondering if you suddenly developed ADHD in your 30s or 40s? You probably did not. Your brain did not break overnight, and there is a much more likely explanation for the focus problems, forgetfulness, and mental fog you are feeling right now.

In this episode, I'm going to explain why adult onset ADHD is not a real diagnosis, what is actually happening in your nervous system when focus and memory decline later in life, and how to tell the difference so you can address the true root cause.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 You Don't Have Adult ADHD. Here's The Real Reason Women Can’t Focus.
    0:22 My background evaluating ADHD
0:54 The pattern I see too often in women
    1:22 What ADHD actually is
2:26 The real diagnostic standard for ADHD
3:14 Why ADHD does not appear for the first time in adulthood
3:53 How chronic stress changes your brain and focus
5:17 Real client example of misdiagnosed ADHD
6:54 The problem with quick stimulant prescriptions
8:09 What to do if your struggles started in adulthood

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Can you develop ADHD as an adult?
No, ADHD is a childhood neurodevelopmental condition, so symptoms must have been present and causing problems before age 12. If focus problems only started in adulthood, something else is likely going on, most often an overactivated nervous system.

Why does chronic stress feel like ADHD?
Long term stress keeps the nervous system on high alert, which impairs the prefrontal cortex, the brain region responsible for attention, working memory, and decision making. This creates symptoms that look almost identical to ADHD, even though the cause is completely different.

Should you still address nervous system regulation if you have ADHD?
Yes, calming an overactive nervous system supports focus and memory regardless of whether you have ADHD, an overactivated nervous system, or both. It is not a consolation prize, it is a core part of effective treatment either way.

  • I’m a Neuropsychologist. Here’s What I Wish Every Overwhelmed Woman Knew Earlier.
    2026/08/20

📌 Discover the real root cause of overwhelm and how to reset your nervous system: https://powerperformanceplan.com/registrationyt

You are still getting it all done. The job, the kids, the calendar full of things only you can keep track of. So why does it feel like you are carrying a 50 pound backpack that no one else can see? The brain fog, the exhaustion, the snapping at people you love over nothing. There is one thing behind all of it, and it is probably not what you have been afraid of.

In this episode, I'm going to explain why so many high achieving women struggle with focus, memory, sleep, and mood at the same time, and what is actually going on in the nervous system behind it.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 I’m a Neuropsychologist. Here’s What I Wish Every Overwhelmed Woman Knew Earlier.
0:53 The real reason behind brain fog and exhaustion
1:23 Why doctors treat every symptom separately
1:53 Is it adult ADHD or early dementia
2:39 The nervous system tree behind every symptom
3:02 The fire alarm that got stuck on
4:21 Functioning on the outside, struggling on the inside
5:34 Why your brain is not malfunctioning
6:09 How to retrain a nervous system stuck on high alert
7:10 What actually changes when you fix the root cause

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Why do women struggle with focus, memory, and mood at the same time?
These symptoms usually come from one root cause, a nervous system stuck in a constant high alert state. When the alarm stays on, the brain pulls resources away from focus, memory, and mood to stay on guard, so everything drops at once.

Is constant brain fog and exhaustion a sign of ADHD or early dementia?
It is almost never dementia in women in their 30s, 40s, or early 50s, since dementia does not look like a busy, capable woman who is simply stretched too thin. Most of the time these symptoms point to a nervous system that has adapted to years of nonstop demand, not a neurological disease.

Can a nervous system that is stuck on high alert be reset?
Yes, an overactive nervous system is an adaptation, not permanent damage, and adaptations can be retrained. With the right support, the alarm can come back down and symptoms like poor sleep, low focus, and mood swings improve together.

  • Neuropsychologist Warns: These 3 Habits Make Overwhelm Worse For Women
    2026/08/20

📌 Discover the real root cause of overwhelm and how to reset your nervous system: https://powerperformanceplan.com/registrationyt

Are you overworking a house you cannot seem to stay on top of, then doomscrolling for an hour instead of tackling your to do list? If you used to have it all together and now you are fighting yourself just to do simple things, this episode is for you.

In this episode, I am going to show you the one hidden cause sitting underneath overworking, a cluttered house, and doomscrolling, so you can stop blaming yourself for the wrong problem.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 Neuropsychologist Warns: These 3 Habits Make Overwhelm Worse For Women
    0:47 The overworking trap explained
1:28 Why your to do list keeps growing
2:07 Working longer hours without results
3:32 Why your house feels impossible to clean
5:30 The doomscrolling cycle and why it happens
7:20 Nervous system overactivation on a scale of 0 to 10
9:04 The biggest mistake people make when fixing overwhelm
9:37 How to reset and retrain your nervous system

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Why do I feel overwhelmed even when I used to handle everything fine?
When your nervous system gets stuck in overactivation, everyday tasks get flagged as threats instead of normal chores, making them feel much harder than they used to.

Why can't I stop doomscrolling or procrastinating on my to do list?
Doomscrolling is an escape hatch your brain reaches for when it is too overactivated to start a task, not a sign of laziness or poor discipline.

Why doesn't therapy, journaling, or productivity hacks fix my overwhelm?
These tools work on the outer layers of the problem, but if your nervous system is stuck at a high stress level, you need to reset that first before other strategies can actually work.
