After Elizabeth's rescue of her daughter, Megan, she has been rushed to the hospital. Her husband, Bill, rushes to be at her side. With Bill away on business, Elizabeth is in charge of the household. The doll, being put away, Elizabeth goes upstairs to rest. However, after an upsetting nightmare, she realizes that not all is at it seems. She discovers that Megan now has the doll in her possession. Taking the doll, Elizabeth hides it in the library, hoping that Megan will not be tempted to retrieve it. But Elizabeth is wrong. After falling asleep again, she is awakened by a cry. Megan has found the doll, but something has gone terribly wrong. Find out what's has befallen the McGuire household in this episode of Susan's Reading Corner.

As Bill arrives back at home, he is greeted by the live-in housekeeper, Mrs. Goodrich who informs him that he needs to talk with his wife, Elizabeth. Once upstairs, Bill, discovers that the antique doll that had arrived earlier that morning has been a bone of contention between Elizabeth and her 6-year-old daughter, Megan. After some negotiating, Bill convinces both his wife and daughter to relocate the doll to the hall closet downstairs. But his sense of uneasiness doesn't relent as he leaves for Port Arbello for the night on business. The family is still unaware of who sent the doll and why.

Chapter 4

After his meeting at the bank with Bill McGuire, his mind is set on doing some research on the Blackstone Asylum. But the library is protected by the hawkish Germaine Wagner. Germaine, always one for a good piece of gossip, attempts to get Oliver to divulge why the demolition has been halted, faces a dilemma when Oliver asks about Asylum memorabilia that is housed in the library. John Saul presents The Blackstone Chronicles, An Eye for an Eye: The Doll, Narrated by Susan's Reading Corner. Bill McGuire is summoned to the bank in Blackstone along with Oliver Metcalf. Bill and Oliver meet with Bank Manager Jules Hartwick and his attorney. Jules is holding off on the Blackstone Center project, a project Bill was counting on. With excuses flying out of Jules' mouth, Bill must find a way to cope with the possible loss of the project and how it will affect the McGuire household.
