Welcome to Settle and Source Sourel, a sacred listening space for women who are ready to rise from the heaviness they have carried and return to the wisdom within.

Each episode is a Sourel, a short voiced transmission set to sound, created from the work of Angela M. Carter, founder of Trauma Release Centre. A Sourel is a bridge between the nervous system and the soul, between survival and source, between the woman who has been holding everything together and the deeper feminine wisdom that has been waiting beneath the noise.

These reflections are created for the woman who may have felt buried beneath old patterns, silenced by fear, dimmed by exhaustion, or held back by energies that were never truly hers to carry. Through words, sound and sacred presence, each Sourel offers an invitation to soften, awaken and begin moving out of the darkness that has kept her disconnected from her own light.

The divine feminine is woven through every Sourel as nurture, protection, intuition, truth, creation and inner knowing. These are feminine light codes for the woman who is ready to remember herself. Not as something to force. Not as something to perform. But as something that may begin to rise from within when the system feels safe enough to listen.

Every Sourel carries Angela’s words, Angela’s message and Angela’s thirty years of clinical and spiritual practice. Her work brings together trauma-informed therapy, Internal Family Systems, nervous system wisdom, somatic awareness and the sacred understanding that healing is not only about recovery. It is also about return.

The voice is delivered by an assistant on Angela’s behalf, allowing her work to reach more women while honouring the very message she teaches, that women do not need to burn themselves out in order to serve, create, love or lead.

A Sourel does not tell a woman who she is. It does not tell her what she must become. It opens a doorway. It offers a frequency. It creates a bridge back to the source within her.

Settle in. Let the sound meet you gently. Let the light find what has been hidden. This is where the remembering begins.

There are times when being told to come back to the body does not feel comforting. For many of us, the body has not always felt like home. It may have felt too loud, too tired, too activated, too numb, too visible or too full of feeling.

This episode begins with that honesty.

A Place to Land is a Sourel about returning to the body gently, without forcing calm and without asking yourself to feel everything at once. It recognises that the body may carry tension, craving, shame, grief, memory, fatigue or old fear. So instead of asking for a full return, this reflection begins with something smaller. One point of contact. One place of support. One possible place to land.

This Sourel explores the difference between trying to make the body feel peaceful and simply finding somewhere in the body that feels possible. A foot on the floor. A hand resting on the chest. The back supported by a chair. The weight of the body held by the bed. A warm cup in the hands. One small point of contact can become a doorway back into the present moment.

For many of us, old rituals offered the body a place to land. They marked the end of the day. They softened the edges. They created a feeling of arrival, even if only for a short time. When those rituals are no longer being used in the same way, the body may still need somewhere to go. Something that says, the day is changing now. You can begin to let go. You can begin to come down. You can begin to be held.

A Place to Land does not ask you to turn the body into a sanctuary before it is ready. It does not ask you to relax on command or make yourself feel safe by force. It offers a gentler invitation: notice where support is already present and let the body register it slowly. Not everywhere. Not forever. Just here. Just for now.

This episode closes with one simple practice. Find one place where your body is being supported and stay there for a few breaths. Let that be enough. A hand. A foot. A chair. A breath. A moment. The nervous system often learns safety through small, repeated experiences of being noticed without being overwhelmed.

A Place to Land is part of The Return, an August Sourel series about what happens after something has been cleared. It follows the tender space after change begins, when the old ritual may no longer hold in quite the same way, but the new way of living still needs time, steadiness and compassion.

You do not need to return to yourself all at once. You can return in fragments. One point of contact. One breath. One small place to land.

If you find yourself wanting something to return to between these reflections, in the actual moment a habit like this one takes hold, I also built an app called Settle and Source. It offers a ninety second guided practice for exactly the kind of moment this reflection has been describing, the gap between noticing an urge and knowing what to do with it. It is not a replacement for anything here, simply another door, in case it is the right one for you. https://settleandsource.com

  • The First Signal

There is a moment before the old pull becomes loud. Before the habit has fully taken hold. Before the hand reaches, the body often speaks.

A tightening. A restlessness. A change in breath. A sudden need to move. A familiar feeling in the chest, the mouth, the hands or the belly. Something small arrives first, often quietly, often before the mind has caught up.

    This episode begins there.

The First Signal is a Sourel about learning to hear the body earlier, before urgency has gathered too much force. It is not about watching yourself with tension or trying to catch every feeling before it becomes difficult. It is about developing a kinder relationship with the beginning of things.

For many of us, the old ritual did not begin as a dramatic decision. It began in the body looking for relief. Something felt too much, too flat, too tight, too lonely, too disappointing or too empty. The body remembered what had worked before, and moved towards it. Not because you were weak, but because some part of you had learned a reliable way to shift your state.

This Sourel gently explores why those early signals matter. If we only meet ourselves at the point of urgency, the old pattern can feel louder than our ability to choose. But when we begin to notice the first signal, a little more space becomes possible. Not a perfect space. Not an easy space. But enough of a pause to ask, what is needed here before I do anything else.

The First Signal invites you to listen for the body’s earliest language. The breath that changes. The shoulders that brace. The jaw that tightens. The hands that begin searching for something outside the self to change the feeling inside the self. It reminds us that these signals are not failures. They are communication. They are the body asking to be heard before it has to speak louder.

This episode closes with one simple invitation: choose one signal to notice today. Just one. A place in the body, a time of day, or a familiar moment when you begin to move away from yourself. When it appears, pause gently. Name it. Let it be there. Before moving into the old response, ask what it may be trying to tell you.

The First Signal is part of The Return, an August Sourel series about what happens after something has been cleared. It follows the tender space after change begins, when the old ritual may no longer hold in quite the same way, but the new way of living still needs time, steadiness and compassion.

You do not need to understand every signal perfectly. Listening is still listening, even before understanding arrives. One signal. One pause. One kinder response. That is enough for today.

  • The Body Is Still Here
    2026/08/01

There is a moment after something has changed when the mind wants to move quickly into what comes next. What now. What do I do with what I have learned? How do I keep going? How do I make sure I do not lose what has started to open?

This episode begins before all of those questions.

The Body Still Holds is a Sourel about returning to the body after a month of noticing, choosing, resisting, softening, and beginning again. It is not about making another plan, setting another promise, or turning change into something that has to be managed. It is about remembering that before there is a next step, there is a body. A body that carried the month. A body that felt the old pull before the mind had language for it. A body that held the restlessness, the discomfort, the hope, the uncertainty, and the small evidence of change.

For many of us, leaving the body made sense. We learned to move into thinking, doing, planning, caring for others, watching ourselves from the outside or reaching for something that helped us not feel too much at once. The body may have felt too loud, too vulnerable, too unpredictable or too full of feeling. So some part of us learned to live slightly away from it.

This Sourel offers a gentle return. Not a return that asks you to feel everything at once. Not a return that demands calm. Not a return that treats the body as a problem to fix. Instead, it invites one small moment of contact. A breath. A hand. A foot on the floor. The weight of the body being supported. One place where you can notice, without judging, that the body is still here.

The Body Still Holds explores the tenderness of coming back to a body that may carry craving, shame, grief, fatigue, numbness, memory or old fear. It makes space for the parts of you that may not want to return too quickly, and reminds them that coming back does not have to mean being flooded. It can happen slowly. Kindly. In fragments.

It closes with one simple invitation: ask the body what it is like to be here today, then listen for something small. Not a full answer. Not a perfect explanation. Just a sensation, a word, a signal or a quiet recognition that something in you is communicating.

The Body Still Holds is part of The Return, an August Sourel series about what happens after something has been cleared.
