  • Stolen Years, Unbroken Spirit: Raymond Gray's Journey to Freedom
    2025/06/14

Imagine this: One moment, you’re living your life, working hard towards your dreams, thinking everything is on track, and the next, everything is stolen from you. Your entire life, your dreams, your future, all wiped away in an instant. You find yourself locked away behind bars for something you didn’t do, with nothing but the cold, gray walls of a prison cell surrounding you. That was Raymond Gray’s reality for 48 1/2 years. Wrongfully convicted of a crime he didn’t commit, he spent nearly five decades in prison
But through it all, one thing remained: his beliefs. As he once said, “Although they chained my hands, they never chained my mind.”
Ray’s story is one of unimaginable injustice, but also of incredible resilience and faith. Even in the face of a system that failed him, he never gave up. He was determined to keep fighting, not just for his freedom, but to maintain his integrity. His father taught him an invaluable lesson that still guides him: “One of the most important things you have is your word.” And Ray held onto those words throughout his long battle for justice.
In addition to Ray’s faith, what also makes this story extraordinary is the power of strangers who showed up for him. The dedicated team from the Seeking Justice, Bill Proctor and Shelby Shoup, who fought relentlessly for his release and in a short time succeeded. Ray was saved not just by his willpower, but by this team and countless others who all believed in his innocence and fought tirelessly to correct a system that failed him. They never gave up, and neither did he.
Even after everything he endured, Ray remains hopeful. His story reminds us of the incredible power of resilience, faith, and the unexpected ways people can show up to make a difference in someone’s life. His story serves as a reminder that You never know where the miracle will come from.
In this special episode of the podcast, we’re honored to be joined by Ray Gray himself, who will share his powerful journey of survival, hope, and the fight for freedom. Also joining us are two amazing individuals who have dedicated their lives to helping those wrongfully convicted: Bill Proctor, Award-Winning Investigative Reporter/ Journalist, Founder & CEO of PCIG (Proctor Consulting & Investigation Group), and Author of the soon-to- be released book, Truth be Damned. Shelby Shoup, a Civic Media Consultant, Filmmaker, and a key player in the start-up and development of Seeking Justice.
These three incredible individuals are pushing the boundaries of justice and making real change in the world. Tune in for an inspiring conversation about perseverance, the fight for truth, and how we can all work together to prevent wrongful convictions. This episode is a must-listen for anyone who believes in justice, redemption, and the power of the human spirit.

  • Bill Proctor’s Mission to Right the Wrongs
    2025/05/05

Bill Proctor has worn many hats, U.S. Air Force veteran, police officer, award-winning journalist, and now private investigator. But through every role, one thing has stayed the same: his relentless commitment to the truth.
As a longtime reporter and anchor at WXYZ Action News in Detroit, Bill made a name for himself uncovering hard truths. But he didn’t stop there. After retiring from the news, he founded Proving Innocence and launched SeekingJusticeBP.com to expose and challenge wrongful convictions in America. To date, his tireless efforts have helped free 15 innocent individuals from prison.
Now, as the Founder & CEO of PCIG (Proctor Consulting & Investigation Group), Bill provides investigative and legal support services across the country. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for accountability, he continues to fight for those whose voices have been ignored.
“As a journalist, my career has always been driven by a deep desire to seek justice and shed light on wrongful convictions. Each day, I am fueled by the passion to help the innocent reclaim their lives.” – Bill Proctor
Bill’s journey, from law enforcement to the newsroom to justice advocacy, is a powerful reminder that real change often starts with one person choosing to keep digging. He’s not just reporting the story anymore, he’s rewriting it.

  • Mind Over Matter Handicap Hip-Hop Brother's The Sparkmans
    2025/04/20

Just when you think you can’t, you meet a family like the Sparkman’, living proof that resilience is a mindset, not a circumstance. They don’t believe in caps, limits, or excuses. They live by one simple motto: I Can.
Two brothers, Jesse ICAN Sparkman aka Sticks, Jacob Sparkman aka Dice, born with cerebral palsy, refused to let their condition define them. Instead, they embraced hip-hop, using music as a vehicle to move, inspire, and uncover their true purpose, proving that anything is possible. Their father? Gary ICAN Sparkman, aka Coach ICAN, A man who saw no limitations, only possibilities. He walked away from a steady job to get involved with an extreme fitness gym, not just to train bodies, but to build unshakable minds.
Every day, they push themselves past the boundaries that others would accept. They don’t just work out, they go all in. They don’t just perform, they inspire. They don’t just dream, they do. They are surrounded with a strong team of believers, including their producer, friend, and biggest advocate, Marco, of NuLife and President/Producer of Raising The Bar Foundation.
The Sparkman brothers are a force that travel, speak to kids, and show the world what happens when you refuse to accept limits.
So next time doubt creeps in, remember this: I Can isn’t just a motto, it’s a way of life.
