  • Detroit Juice And Real Talk
    2026/06/15

We’re in Detroit mode from the first second: cracking jokes, checking in on real life, and then turning the “juice” all the way up. We celebrate hitting 500 downloads and give a genuine thank you to everyone who listens, shares, and supports, then we get into the kind of honest talk you only hear on a show that isn’t trying to sound perfect, from recovery updates and physical therapy realities to the little relationship battles that somehow always start in the laundry room.

Then we dive headfirst into entertainment news and celebrity headlines with the stories everyone’s arguing about. We break down major legal and controversy updates connected to Diddy, talk through disturbing claims involving Ye and the way powerful people try to hide behind “art,” and react to the massive Paramount and Warner Bros merger news that has Hollywood nervous about job losses and higher costs. If you follow pop culture, hip hop gossip, celebrity lawsuits, streaming industry moves, or media power plays, there’s a lot here to unpack.

We also make room for the good stuff: Prince’s legacy gets love with a fan-driven People’s Museum and new vault music, and Detroit pride shows up loud with Vernors turning 160 at Eastern Market. After that, we go into one of the biggest conversations happening right now: why younger people are pushing back on AI, the risks of deepfakes and misinformation, and even the environmental impact of data centers and water use.

Tap in wherever you stream, then help us keep growing: subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find Roadwork Records. What topic do you want us to go deeper on next week?

  • The moment you stop waiting for permission and start believing in yourself, your whole life changes.
    2026/06/06

Mama Yaya lives by one main belief: “it doesn’t matter who doesn’t believe in you… it matters if you believe in you. The rest will settle into place.” Raised in Chicago, Mama Yaya is a singer/songwriter who uses music to tell real human stories. She’s been performing since the 5th grade, taking stages across Chicago and beyond, including performing with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for the Deaf & Loud Symphonic Experience. In 2018, she signed with Detroit producer Jake Bass and soon after earned a golden ticket on American Idol, making it through Hollywood Week. Her EP Broken Record climbed the charts, but more importantly, it connected with people on a deeper level. Her work reaches far beyond music. Mama Yaya openly speaks on trauma, mental health, and injustice, and is also a certified Grief, Loss & Trauma Coach. You may recognize her as Siren on Alter Ego, or from performances with Sofar Sounds, The NAMM Show, and alongside artists like Leon Bridges. She’s been featured in major publications, appeared on television, and recently became a Recording Academy member, attending the Grammys in 2025. But at the heart of everything she does, Mama Yaya uses her voice to make people feel seen, heard, and a little less alone. Don’t miss this inspiring conversation!
