A life in music doesn’t usually follow a straight line and Tony “T Money” Green proves it. We sit down with a Detroit music legend right before his 70th birthday and trace the real chain of moments that took him from a self-taught teenage bassist playing local clubs to running with The Dramatics, then landing in California and getting the phone call every musician fantasizes about: Dr. Dre asking him to come to the studio and play what he hears. Tony breaks down how those sessions actually worked, why creativity beats ego, and how “taking chances” turns into a career when you keep showing up.

Along the way, we keep it local and current with Detroit culture and entertainment news. We talk 9/11 memories that still feel immediate, then shift into Michigan Music Awards updates, voting tips, and what to expect at the upcoming mixer. We also hit headline topics like the latest Diddy legal developments, the Tupac case rumors that won’t go away, and the internet frenzy around Lady Gaga’s baby news. If you love a podcast that blends Detroit grit, hip-hop history, celebrity news, and real music industry advice, this one stays moving.

We wrap with can’t-miss Detroit event picks, including Stevie Wonder’s Fox Theatre dates, Detroit Month of Design highlights, and a shoutout to the historic Senate Theater. Then Tony closes with practical guidance for artists and entrepreneurs: it takes time to make money, smart free work can be an investment, and comparing your path to someone else’s will stall you out.
