  • The Anatomy of Joy
    2025/09/29

    What is joy made of?

If you understand the anatomy of joy, you can be in touch with it more of the time.

Joy is not something you create. Joy is within you, an innate resource that you can tune into.

Joy is not about escaping suffering and challenges. It is a quieting of the mind and “being with it.” Presence brings us into alignment to our joyful center.

    “Joy lives in the heart.”

If you want more joy in your life, listen to a conversation I had with Qigong Master Teacher, Vicki Dello Joio. Her name means victory of joy. For more than 45 years, her brand of brilliance has empowered wellness-motivated and spiritually-inclined seekers and speakers to infuse body-mind-spirit practices into their very cells so they can tap into their birthright of joy — use it as a fuel not just a goal — for a lifetime.

“We have all kinds of feelings and emotions, and they all belong. Joy is the seed and essence of all of it.”

Join us for a Qigong movement practice to cultivate more joy at the 22:00 minute mark.

The 3 Principles of Mind, Consciousness, and Thought help us understand the nature of our experience. Those who explore this understanding find that their lives transform. Listen for a richer experience of life.

    2025/03/05

Pressure may make diamonds, but it doesn’t make us better performers.

What if the secret to high performance was letting go of pressure?

My guest on this episode, Coach Wyn Morgan, has found this to be true.

Learn how mental pressure lowers access to innate abilities. Explore how you can create with more inspiration, presence, and ease.

If you put pressure on yourself to achieve more, this approach to work and life can help you.

Wyn Morgan is a Certified Master Transformative Coach, Corporate Training Consultant and 3 Principles practitioner.

  • 53: Better Than Sleep Hacks
    2025/02/04

Does difficulty sleeping cause you to dread your nights and days?

If you struggle to get to sleep or stay asleep, you need to listen to this episode of the Releasing Mental Tension Podcast!

My co-hosts and I struggled to sleep despite using the best sleep hacks. We tried meditation, red lights, no screens, and other disciplined sleep hygiene techniques. Even after years of research and hard work, we still found sleep elusive.

What if we all go about trying to sleep better in the wrong way? A hyperfocus on sleep actually makes sleep harder. We count our hours asleep, and then feel exhausted all day if it is “too low.” Our relationship with sleep may be more influenced by how we think. We can rest when we aren’t winding ourselves up.

Do you get stressed out just thinking about how you will sleep tonight? Learn how to relax and get better sleep by using your thoughts in a new way.

For this episode, I teamed up with the Better Than Therapy Podcast. Britta Kristen and Kevin Lawrence join me to discuss our failed sleep hacks and what really worked.

Hear from the husband and wife team of transformational coaches as they vulnerably and sometimes irreverently explore the art of transformation and the nature of the human experience.

Two podcasts at one time! This episode will be published on both the Better than Therapy and the Releasing Mental Tension Podcast.

Do you block your creative flow? More creativity leads to better solutions, connections, and abundance.

If you want to unburden your creative spirit, listen to this episode of the Releasing Mental Tension Podcast.

Coach Aila Coats joins me to discuss how to drop the blocks that get in the way of our natural expression.

Read some of her inspiring words:

“We place ourselves in creativity jail when we’re placing a grade on everything we're up to.”

“It is a process of getting yourself off your mind.”

“(Creativity) is a dialogue with the Universe.”

“Can I tap into creative energy any time no matter what I’m thinking and see what happens?”

Aila started meditating and studying spiritual texts when she was 12 and hasn’t stopped for the past 30 years.

    2024/11/08

    Discover Your Inner Power

We all have access to an inner power that gives us innate resilience, strength, and love.

We can innocently cover up this inner power with negative thinking. Then, addiction, fear, and worry fill our lives.

Whenever we are thinking positive, God is always near us. Whenever we are thinking negative, we are chasing God away.” - Philips Tayebwa

Join me for a conversation about happiness and love for oneself. In this episode, I bring on Philips Tayebwa, a 3 Principles practitioner working in Nakivale Refugee Camp in Western Uganda.

While this might not be the most polished episode with sound and internet challenges, it certainly has the most heart. Stick with it!

May this episode spread hope. It shows that everyone has the inner power to live a harmonious life even in the most challenging circumstances, no exceptions.

  • 49: Stress Less: Understand Your Mental Machine
    2024/10/25

Learn to take aligned actions, stress less, and find innate joy.

Do you struggle with your mental machine?

You know you are taking your meaning making machine (thoughts) too seriously if you struggle with:

decisions, stress, overwhelm, frustration, anxiety, unhappiness, and insecurity.

If that sounds like you, listen to a conversation I had with coach Wendy Williams.

Learn to release mental tension by approaching your mind in a new way. Relax into the way you were built.

When you understand how your meaning making machine works, it completely changes your experience of life.

You can move forward in a more informed way.

    Read these powerful quotes:

“I've given up on the idea that i should have a lovely life 24/7”

“I don’t need to move forward on every inclination I have. Feelings come and then they go.”

“Am I working with the system as it is built or am I working against it?”

“The mind has the same drive as the body to keep me in homeostasis. It will take care of itself.”

Wendy is a lifelong learner, awake to opportunities to shine a light on all things wise and whole. A nurse educator specializing in psychological health, she always sees people's inner spark and capability. She is super happy to provide short term coaching to move things forward with kindness and humor for her clients.

Wendy weaves together her background as a nurse with experience in cancer, HIV/AIDS, chronic pain and end of life. She knows, from experience, that everyone is made to live well and flourish.
