On November 9, 2024 a mountain bike accident changed Callam’s life in an instant. Alongside co-host Gary Nickel and conversation with Colleen Bremer, Callam revisits waking up in the intensive care unit of the hospital unable to move.
Awaking in an unknown place, connected to tubes unable to move is horrifying. Learning that you can not feel or move most of your body is jarring. The first week in the intensive care unit was scary and numbing. Thoughts go through your mind like, how can I live, am I a burden, am I wanted brings you to low depths. It takes one moment that lifts you out of darkness, it is when you realize that you are loved.
