Dr. Kay & Dr. Ray discuss the first portion of the Vanderpump Rules (VPR) Season 11 reunion, and episode 9 of The Valley season 1, including topics such as projection, victim-blaming, and grooming--both the standard definition & colloquial use! While the official definition specifies children or young people as the victims, the colloquial use of the word “grooming” is more expansive, including any power differential at the center of the coercion and abuse.

“The comments sections” are a microcosm of our society, and therefore highlight the human tendency towards victim-blaming that also peppered the VPR reunion! We actually feel safer when we can blame the victim, because we believe we can avoid it happening to us, if we’re better–in any way–than the victim was. What might it take to challenge ourselves to move past that gut reaction to blame the victim?

(Notice Ariana was one of the only castmates who didn't feel the need to engage in it! Just another reason to stan.)
