• Season 2 - Episode 31 - The Myth Of The Stolen Base
    2025/08/22

We love to hear your thoughts. Tell us how you enjoyed the Podcast.

Welcome to Episode 31, Season 2, today we are going to talk about, "The Myth of Stolen Base”…Myth? Really?

Has the Stolen Base become more popular since the new rule changes?

Yes, Major League Baseball (MLB) has seen a significant increase in stolen bases since the implementation of the pitch clock and other related rule changes in the 2023 season. This surge is a direct result of several interconnected rule modifications designed to speed up the game and inject more action.

The primary rule changes contributing to the increase in stolen bases include the pitch clock, larger bases, and limitations on pitcher disengagements (pickoff attempts). The pitch clock, set at 15 seconds with no runners on base and 20 seconds with runners on base (reduced to 18 seconds in 2024), forces pitchers to deliver the ball more quickly, potentially making it harder for them to hold runners close to the base. Batters must also be ready in the box by the 8-second mark.

The size of the bases was increased from 15 square inches to 18 square inches. This seemingly small change reduces the distance between bases by 4.5 inches, making it slightly easier for runners to reach the bag safely and providing a larger target for sliding.

    2025/08/15

We love to hear your thoughts. Tell us how you enjoyed the Podcast.

Welcome to Episode 30, Season 2, where we dive into the concept of the “Window of Opportunity.” Every team gets a shot—a limited stretch where their current roster has the talent, chemistry, and form to truly contend for a World Series. Thanks to free agency and rising contracts, for most teams, this prime window lasts about five years. We’re not talking about teams simply staying competitive. We’re talking about those rare moments when everything aligns, and a team can go all the way. This is the elusive “Window of Opportunity” that every owner and fan hopes for.

Let’s break it down and get more specific. Obviously, some organizations are committed to produce a winning team more often than others. We get used to this, and expect these teams to be competitive throughout the years. Let’s list those teams now.

    Trade Deadline Results

Howdy, Howdy and welcome to Moe’s World - The Baseball Podcast. We're excited to bring you our latest episode. Your feedback is important to us, so please feel free to share your comments. If you enjoy the podcast, spread the word to your friends.

In our 28th Episode of Season 2, we are gonna talk about the Trade Deadline Results and the status of the team formally known as the Oakland A’s.

    Who made out?

July 25 - Saw the period begin with the NY Yankees acquiring 3B - Ryan McMahon of Colorado Rockies for 2 prospects. For the Yankees, hopefully this will sure up the shitty defense the Yankees paraded out as third basemen.

July 25 - Also had the Seattle Mariners diving in early in picking up Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks. GREAT pickup here for sure. But…the Mariners suck and can only hope for a Wild Card spot.

Some early trades transpired but without any major impact to the current teams. LOTS of names were still being floated around. I wasn’t really planning on disecting each trade, you can get enough of that on MLB Network.

Construction Status of the A’s Las Vegas Stadium

    Groundbreaking Ceremony

The Oakland A’s have officially begun construction on their new stadium in Las Vegas….supposedly. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on June 23, 2025, as the franchise transitions from Oakland to Las Vegas. Join us for more...

  • Season 2 - Episode 27 - Swing Speed
    2025/07/25

We love to hear your thoughts. Tell us how you enjoyed the Podcast.

In our 27th Episode of Season 2, we are gonna talk about Swing Speed, does it really mean anything.

We now have tons of data on the swing of the hitters. Slow and short swings, swings that accelerate quickly, swings that accelerate much slower. Let’s take a look at some swings of some popular players:

    • Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani, Yordan Alvarez
    • These hitters have something in common. They are very efficient to the ball and have a high bat speed, that makes it possible to hit pitches out in front for power. BUT… this type of swing is also responsible for a higher K-rate as well.
    • Juan Soto, Bobby Witt Jr., Gunnar Henderson
    • This is the type of swing for consistency and efficiency. Making this swing a more complete hitter that can hit for average and power. Hitters in this group who struggle, likely tend to lose the feel.
    • Kyle Tucker, Christian Yelich,
    • Hitters in this group are probably the largest, players of “average” bat speed, swing length, swing acceleration, and time to contact. The hitters who find success here are generally good at getting up to speed quick and pulling the ball.

  • Season 2 - Episode 26 - All-Star Game/ Old Timers' Day
    2025/07/18

We love to hear your thoughts. Tell us how you enjoyed the Podcast.

In our 26th Episode of Season 2, we are going to talk just a little about the All-Star Game and the concept of an Old Timers Day.

So… what did you think of the AllStar game? I still think if you are voted in you should stay in the game at least 3 innings, especially if you are playing in your home teams park. Acuna seemed to be just disappear this game? Did you like the new HR SwingOff format? Game was boring for the first 5 innings, it looked like a typical Yankee game! Then I realized that made sense since Aaron Boone was managing. lol

Hey, you gotta admit, the new HR SwingOff is hell of a lot better then a TIE…The 2002 MLB All-Star Game ended in a tie due to a lack of available players. The game, held at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, went into extra innings after a 7-7 tie at the end of nine innings. However, after 11 innings, both teams had exhausted their available pitchers, and the managers decided to end the game rather than risk injury to players or further complications.

This wacky outcome led to many discussions about the format of the All-Star Game and its implications, changes in how the game was approached was a BIG topic. The tie was really notable because it was the first time an All-Star Game had ended without a winner since the game's inception in 1933.

Extra inning games in an all Star game is stupid in my opinion anyway, this is a GREAT idea. But a few changes are needed.... Join us for more
