The Matthew Biblical Exposition series you are now listening to consists of twenty-eight chapters and is divided into six volumes. This second volume covers Matthew chapters five through eight. The content is organized by topic and divided into three sections: Biblical Exposition, Sermon, and Questions and Answers. “Unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:20) Does a person become righteous enough to enter the kingdom of heaven by adding good deeds, keeping the Law, and ceaseless repentance and prayer? Beginning with the Beatitudes in Matthew chapter 5, this book sequentially examines the fulfillment of the Law, the Lord’s Prayer, the Kingdom and righteousness of God, and the narrow gate and the house built on the rock, clearly revealing the “all righteousness” that God gives to sinners. Then, through the faith of the leper and the centurion, it clearly testifies that the righteousness of God and the remission of sins are not earned through human merit but are given to those who believe the gospel of the water and the Spirit fulfilled by Jesus. If you have instead been condemned before commands you cannot keep, or have never been sure whether you are a righteous person who will enter the kingdom of heaven, discover through this book the perfect righteousness of salvation God Himself has accomplished. ● Scripture quotations used in this book are from the ‘New King James Version (NKJV)’, ‘American Standard Version (ASV)’. ● This audiobook is an original human creation based on the sermons of Rev. Paul C. Jong. Matthew chapters 5 through 8 show what kind of faith and life Jesus Christ requires of the people of the kingdom of heaven, and that He is Almighty God who rules over sin, disease, demons, and all the things of nature. The Sermon on the Mount is not simply a lesson telling us to live morally good lives. It is the word for the people of the kingdom of heaven, teaching with what faith the person who has first received the remission of sins by the righteousness of God serves God and how he ought to live in this world.

Matthew chapter 5 is the first chapter of the Sermon on the Mount, in which Jesus taught His disciples and the crowds on a mountain the heart and life of the people of the kingdom of God. Through the Beatitudes, Jesus declares that those who depend on God and seek righteousness, mercy, and peace are blessed. He then calls His disciples the salt and light of the world and reveals the true meaning of the Law down to the dimension of the heart, motives, and relationships. He warns against anger, lust, irresponsible divorce, false oaths, and retaliation, and at the end He tells us to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us.

Matthew chapter 5 is the chapter in which Jesus went up on a mountain and taught His disciples the blessings received by the people of the kingdom of heaven and the life of the righteous. The Beatitudes are not conditions for man to obtain salvation by perfecting eight virtues. They show that those who acknowledge that they have no righteousness of their own and long for the righteousness of God receive the remission of sins, the Holy Spirit, and the kingdom of heaven by believing in the gospel of the water and the Spirit, and that afterward, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they bear the fruits of meekness, mercy, purity, and peace and endure even the persecution they receive because of the gospel with the hope of heaven.
