You've tried to talk yourself into wanting sex. Told yourself he's a good man, you should want this, you just need the right mindset. And then nothing happened. Your mind agrees. Your body doesn't follow. simply not knowing how desire actually works.

In this episode, I'm breaking down why thinking your way into desire doesn't work, what your body is actually responding to instead, and how to reach the place where desire really lives.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 Why You Can't Just "Think Yourself" Into Wanting Sex
    1:36 Desire Is a Bottom-Up Experience, Not a Decision
2:37 Why Willpower Fails When It Comes to Desire
3:52 What Actually Reaches the Body
5:25 The Role of Mindfulness in Desire
6:12 Building Bottom-Up Access to Desire
    7:52 What To Do Tonight

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: Why can't I just make myself want sex?
A: Desire is a bottom-up experience generated by the body, not a top-down decision made by your thinking brain. Trying to reason or will yourself into it works against how desire is actually produced.

Q: Why does thinking about wanting sex make it worse?
A: Monitoring and instructing yourself during intimacy activates the thinking brain, which suppresses the body's ability to respond spontaneously. You can't observe yourself wanting and genuinely want at the same time.

Q: What actually helps rebuild desire if willpower doesn't work?
A: Bottom-up conditions: a regulated nervous system, connected (not mechanical) touch, emotional safety, and present-moment awareness of physical sensation rather than mental evaluation.

  • The Perimenopause–Desire Connection Nobody Talks About Honestly

If your desire has shifted significantly in your late 30s or 40s, you've probably been told it's perimenopause. And maybe it is partially. But there's a woman who did everything right: bloodwork, HRT, testosterone cream, exactly what she was told to do, and she still sits across from her partner at dinner feeling like she's looking at a stranger.

She was only given a third of the picture.

In this episode, I'm giving you the full conversation on perimenopause and desire. What's actually physical, what's psychological, what's relational, and why treating only one of the three keeps women stuck.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 The Perimenopause–Desire Connection Nobody Talks About Honestly
1:29 The Physical Reality of Perimenopause
2:34 Why the Medical Conversation Is Incomplete
5:18 The Psychological Shift: It's an Identity Event
    6:00 The Relational Reality
8:10 What a Complete Response Looks Like
    10:36 What To Do Tonight

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: Does perimenopause really affect sex drive, or is it something else?
A: Perimenopause genuinely affects desire, declining estrogen and testosterone can cause dryness, reduced sensitivity, and disrupted sleep. But for most women, it's only part of the picture, not the complete explanation.

Q: Why did HRT or testosterone cream not fix my low desire?
A: Hormonal treatment addresses the physical layer, but desire loss in this life stage is often also identity-related (a midlife reckoning about who you are outside your roles) and relational (years of accumulated distance in the relationship). Medication alone can't do that work.

Q: What should I actually do if I think perimenopause is affecting my desire?
A: Address all three layers at once. Get physical symptoms like pain or dryness properly treated by a provider who specializes in midlife women's health, give yourself real space for the identity questions this stage raises, and do the relational repair work with your partner.

  • How Emotional Labour Is Killing Your Desire (And What He Can Do About It)
    2026/08/27

    #EmotionalLabor #EmotionalLabour #MentalLoad #LowLibido

    📌 Free Intimacy Masterclass: https://lauren-wolff.com/register?c=0

By the time you get into bed, you've already spent 14 hours being the person who remembers, coordinates, anticipates, manages, and sustains everything and everyone in your household. That mental load is exhausting, and exhaustion is the least fertile ground for desire that exists. The question isn't why you don't want sex. It's how you could possibly have anything left for it.

In this episode, I'm naming what emotional labour actually is, showing you how it depletes desire at the root, and explaining what needs to change, for you and for your partner, to create conditions where desire can exist again.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 How Emotional Labour Is Killing Your Desire
0:50 What Emotional Labour Actually Is
2:20 How Emotional Labour Kills Desire
3:26 What Women Need to Do
4:27 What Partners Need to Understand
5:17 Redistribution in Practice/What To Do Tonight

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: What is emotional labour and how does it affect my sex drive?
A: Emotional labour is the invisible work of managing your household's emotional and logistical life. Remembering, anticipating, and monitoring everyone's needs. It consumes the same mental and physical energy desire requires, so when it's not shared, desire has nothing left to draw on.

Q: Why do I feel too depleted for intimacy even when I love my partner?
A: Desire requires ease, presence, and the capacity to receive. If you've spent all day in giving mode, managing everyone else's emotional world, you arrive at night with nothing left to give. That's depletion, not disinterest.

Q: How can my partner actually help with this?
A: Not by "helping" but by taking full ownership of tasks. Helping still makes her the manager who delegates and checks in. Owning means noticing, tracking, and executing without being asked or reminded.

  • The Truth About Scheduling Sex Why It Backfires and What to Do Instead
    2026/08/20

    #SchedulingSex #LowLibido #DesireInMarriage #SexTherapist #intimacyinmarriage

    📌 Free Intimacy Masterclass: https://lauren-wolff.com/register?c=0

Scheduling sex is one of the most commonly given intimacy prescriptions. It's also one of the most reliably counterproductive. If you've ever spent all day dreading Thursday, you're not broken — you're experiencing exactly what scheduling does to desire.

In this episode, I'm walking you through five things that happen when you put sex on the calendar, why it trains desire out of the equation entirely, and what to focus on instead that actually creates conditions for intimacy to emerge naturally.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 - Why Scheduling Sex Backfires
    1:36 - Problem 1: Obligation vs. Desire
3:02 - Problem 2: Training Desire Out of the Equation
    3:49 - Problem 3: Anticipatory Dread
4:36 - What To Do Instead
    6:02 - The One Exception
7:07 - What To Do Tonight

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: Why does scheduling sex make me dread it instead of want it?
A: The moment sex goes on the calendar, your brain treats it like a task. You cannot desire a task. Scheduling assumes the problem is opportunity — but for most women, the problem is conditions. A calendar doesn't change conditions. It just adds pressure to the existing ones.

Q: Is scheduling sex ever a good idea?
A: For a small subset of people, yes. But there's an important distinction: scheduling protected connection time with no predetermined expectation is very different from scheduling sex. One creates conditions. The other creates obligation.

Q: How do I rebuild desire without scheduling intimacy?
A: Schedule the conditions that allow desire to emerge — emotional connection, physical affection with no agenda, and genuine off-duty time for your nervous system. When conditions are right, desire shows up on its own. It doesn't need an appointment.

  • Why Desire Feels Different After Having Kids And How to Find It Again

Before kids, desire showed up. After kids, everything that desire depends on got reorganized — your nervous system, your body, your identity, and your relationship. And no one warned you that was coming.

In this video, I'm walking you through five things that actually change about desire after children, why none of it means desire is gone, and how to stop trying to get back to who you were before and start building something that fits who you are now.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
    0:00 - Introduction
1:51 - Change 1: Your Nervous System Is Always On
3:46- Change 2: Your Body No Longer Feels Like Yours
5:12 - Change 3: Identity Reorganized Around Motherhood
6:42 - Change 4: Relationship Reorganized Around Parenting
7:41 - Change 5: What Finding Desire After Kids Looks Like
9:06 - What To Do Tonight

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: Why did my desire disappear after having kids?
A: It didn't disappear. Every system that supports desire — your nervous system, your sense of body ownership, your identity, your relationship dynamic — got reorganized around survival and caregiving. That's a recalibration, not a permanent loss.

Q: Why am I touched out and what does that have to do with desire?
A: When your body is constantly needed by your children, it stops feeling like yours. By the time your partner reaches for you, there's genuinely nothing left — not because you don't love them, but because the glass is empty. Reclaiming moments where your body belongs to you is the first step back.

Q: How do I find desire again after kids without waiting until they leave home?
A: You stop trying to return to old desire and start building desire that fits your life now. That means protecting time to be genuinely off duty, reconnecting with who you are outside of motherhood, and deliberately keeping the romantic relationship alive alongside the parenting one.

  • What Your Husband Needs to Understand About Your Lost Desire

Your wife didn't stop wanting you to hurt you. Her body is protecting itself from conditions that no longer feel safe. And the things you're probably doing to fix it, the extra effort, the quiet frustration, the waiting, are likely pushing her further away.

In this episode, I'm going to walk you through five things she needs you to understand about her lost desire, why your reactions matter more than you think, and what you can do starting tonight.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 What Your Husband Needs to Understand About Your Lost Desire (Show Him This)
0:43 Her Lost Desire Is Not a Rejection of You
1:12 How Your Reaction Either Helps or Hurts Her Desire
2:12 How You're Creating Pressure Without Realizing It
4:07 Why Emotional Connection Comes Before Physical Desire
5:39 She Needs Physical Affection That Isn't Leading Anywhere
7:11 Why Patience Is Not Passive — It's Essential
8:32 Three Things You Can Do Tonight
9:36 Why Removing Pressure Is What Actually Changes Things

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q:Why did my wife stop wanting sex?
A:Her desire is not a rejection of you. It is a nervous system response to conditions like emotional disconnection, chronic stress, or an environment where intimacy feels unsafe. She did not choose this consciously.

Q:How do I stop creating pressure around sex in my marriage?
A:Stop letting mood shifts, withdrawal, or quiet disappointment signal to her that her "no" has a cost. Even subtle reactions register as pressure. Let her say no without any consequence, and mean it.

Q:How long does it take for a wife's desire to come back?
A:There is no fixed timeline. Measuring progress or showing frustration adds pressure that slows everything down. Consistent patience, emotional safety, and non-agenda touch are what create the conditions for desire to return.

  • What 400+ Women Taught Me About the Mistakes That Kill Desire
    2026/05/21

    📌 Free Intimacy Masterclass: https://lauren-wolff.com/register?c=0

You are not lazy. You are not ignoring the problem. You have been trying. But trying has not worked, and you cannot figure out why.

After working with over 400 women, I can tell you: the most common reason intimacy stays broken is not a lack of effort. It is effort pointed in the wrong direction. Well-intentioned effort. Logical-seeming effort. Effort that backfires every single time.

In this episode, I'm going to walk you through the five most common intimacy mistakes I see women make, explain why each one makes things worse instead of better, and show you what to do instead.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 - Why trying harder to fix intimacy can make things worse
0:44 - What 400 women taught me about staying stuck
1:03 - Mistake 1: More sex without emotional ease
2:27 - Mistake 2: Intimacy while carrying unresolved resentment
4:02 - Mistake 3: Expressing needs through criticism instead of requests
5:26 - Mistake 4: Over-functioning and resenting your partner for it
7:07 - Mistake 5: Comparing your desire to how it felt in your 20s
8:44 - How to identify which mistake is keeping you stuck right now
10:05 - Why stopping the wrong thing is more powerful than starting something new

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: Why does trying to have more sex make intimacy feel worse in a long-term relationship?

Sex without emotional ease creates more evidence that intimacy is a chore. Your body learns intimacy is something to endure, not enjoy, which reinforces the exact pattern you are trying to break.

Q: Why does resentment kill desire even when you try to push through it?

Your body will not open to someone it is angry with regardless of what your mind attempts to override. Resentment is not a mindset issue you can think your way out of. It lives in the body, and intimacy while resentful feels like self-betrayal.

Q: What is responsive desire and is it a sign something is wrong?

Responsive desire means arousal comes after connection, not before it. It is the norm in long-term relationships, not a dysfunction. Comparing it to the spontaneous desire you felt at 25 sets you up for constant disappointment because those were completely different hormonal and relational conditions.
