  • Look at your food!
    2026/09/22

Food can be our friend—or work against us.

Most of us buy groceries every week, read a few labels, trust a few claims on the front of the package, and hope we’re making decent choices.

    I did too.

Then my blood work came back prediabetic.

That changed the way I looked at food.

Now I’m paying closer attention to ingredients, glucose response, processed foods, recalls, grocery prices, and the little choices that can add up over time.

This show is about learning what’s really in the food we buy—without becoming afraid of eating.

We’ll look at everyday products, personal food experiments, ingredient surprises, glucose lessons, shopping strategies, and ways to make better decisions before you ever walk into the store.

Short episodes. Straight to the point. No hour-long rambling.

Just practical food information for people who want to know more about what they’re putting in their bodies.

Know what’s in your food. Know before you go.

  • 8 in 10 Don’t Know They Have Prediabetes
    2026/09/16

Prediabetes may be far more common than most of us realize.

According to the CDC, more than 115 million American adults — more than 2 in 5 — have prediabetes. Even more surprising, about 8 in 10 adults with prediabetes don’t know they have it.

    Why?

Prediabetes can exist for years without obvious symptoms. Blood sugar is higher than normal, but not yet high enough to meet the definition of type 2 diabetes. Meanwhile, the condition is associated with increased risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.

In this episode, I talk about why those numbers should get our attention, why my own prediabetes blood work became a wake-up call, and why understanding what we eat may be one of the most practical places to start.

This isn’t about becoming afraid of food.

    It’s about becoming aware.

Know what you’re eating. Know your numbers. Ask questions. And don’t assume everything is fine simply because you feel fine.

Know what’s in your food. Know before you go.

  • What is the cost of food?
    2026/09/15

Every food we buy comes with two costs.

The first is the price we see on the shelf.

The second can be much harder to see — the long-term cost of eating foods that may work against our health.

In this episode, I talk about why saving a few cents at the grocery store doesn’t always mean we’re getting the better deal, and why ingredients, nutrition, blood sugar, cholesterol, and everyday food choices deserve a closer look.

This isn’t about being afraid of food.

It’s about understanding what we’re buying, comparing our options, and making better choices before the food ever reaches the cart.

Because the cheapest food on the shelf may not always be the cheapest food in the long run.

Know what’s in your food. Know before you go.
