  • Ep 296: Cracking the Code on Aging Eggs with Dr Sherman Silber
    2025/10/13

Fertility Docs Uncensored is hosted by Dr. Carrie Bedient from the Fertility Center of Las Vegas, Dr. Susan Hudson from Texas Fertility Center, and Dr. Abby Eblen from Nashville Fertility Center. Featuring Dr. Sherman Silber, MD, founder of the Silber Fertility Institute in St. Louis. This episode features Dr. Sherman Silber, an internationally recognized pioneer in infertility treatment who has dedicated his career to helping patients overcome the challenges of female aging and diminished ovarian reserve. Dr. Silber shares how minimal stimulation protocols—using very small doses of gonadotropins combined with daily Clomid—can offer new hope for women with decreased ovarian reserve or premature ovarian insufficiency. He explains why HCG plays a crucial role in egg maturation, particularly for women with very low egg numbers, and why using lower amounts of medication may actually improve outcomes. Dr. Silber also looks to the future, discussing cutting-edge research that may enable the transformation of fibroblasts into eggs and sperm—an innovation that could redefine fertility treatment within the next 10–15 years. With decades of groundbreaking work behind him, Dr. Silber offers both practical guidance for today and visionary insights for tomorrow. This podcast was sponsored by IVF Florida

  • Ep 294: The IVF Blueprint Part 2: Making it through transfer and beyond
    2025/09/30

Fertility Docs Uncensored is hosted by Dr. Carrie Bedient from the Fertility Center of Las Vegas, Dr. Susan Hudson from Texas Fertility Center, and Dr. Abby Eblen from Nashville Fertility Center. In this second installment of our two-part series, the Fertility Docs continue their deep dive into the topics covered in our upcoming book. This episode explores the “in-between” stage after egg retrieval and before embryo transfer—a time that can feel both exciting and uncertain. We’ll walk you through the concerns patients face, such as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, and explain how to prepare for a frozen embryo transfer. We also compare fresh transfers with frozen transfers, so you’ll know what to expect in both scenarios. But the IVF journey doesn’t end there. We’ll discuss the range of emotions that come with a positive pregnancy test—and the difficult moments when the outcome isn’t what you hoped for. Beyond infertility, IVF can serve many purposes, from egg freezing for future family building to using a gestational carrier. We’ll also explore when donor eggs, sperm, or embryos may be needed, and how IVF supports LGBTQIA+ family building. Finally, we’ll highlight the importance of genetic testing to prevent inherited conditions. This podcast was sponsored by IVF Florida.

    2025/09/23

Fertility Docs Uncensored is hosted by Dr. Carrie Bedient from the Fertility Center of Las Vegas, Dr. Susan Hudson from the Texas Fertility Center, and Dr. Abby Eblen from the Nashville Fertility Center. Today’s episode is EXTRA SPECIAL — it’s release day for our brand-new book, The IVF Blueprint! We’ve spent several years putting this resource together for anyone considering or going through IVF, egg freezing, or embryo transfer, and we’re thrilled to finally share it with you. In this episode, we’re diving into the first half of the book: Part I and Part II. In Part I, “Laying the Groundwork,” we walk through everything to know before treatment begins — from deciding if IVF is the right path, to understanding stimulation medications (and whether they’ll actually make you “crazy”), to making healthy lifestyle changes that benefit both you and your future baby. We also discuss supplements that may play a helpful role during your journey. In Part II, we move into the nuts and bolts of the IVF process itself. We cover what to expect at monitoring visits, take a detailed look at the egg retrieval, and introduce you to the key people you’ll meet along the way — from embryologists and nurses to anesthesia staff and physicians. • Ep 292: High Hopes, Low Reserve: Making Tough Choices with Decreased Ovarian Reserve
    2025/09/16

Fertility Docs Uncensored is hosted by Dr. Carrie Bedient from the Fertility Center of Las Vegas, Dr. Susan Hudson from Texas Fertility Center, and Dr. Abby Eblen from Nashville Fertility Center. In this episode, the Fertility Docs dive into the complexities of decreased ovarian reserve and the tough decisions that come with it. What happens when only a few eggs are retrieved? When is it best to fertilize, and when might it be time to stop treatment? Our docs unpack the emotional and financial weight of multiple cycles with low yields and explain why sometimes looking at sperm health—including DNA fragmentation testing may be important. They discuss the role of growth hormone in supporting egg quality, the difficult but potentially life-changing choice of donor eggs, and strategies for dealing with dominant follicles, from luteal starts to estrogen priming. You’ll also hear insights on high AMH at age 41, unexplained infertility that turned out to be diminished reserve, chemotherapy’s impact on fertility, and alternative paths when IVF isn’t financially possible—from IUI and intratubal insemination to fertility grants. This is a must-listen episode for anyone navigating the challenging reality of decreased ovarian reserve. This podcast was sponsored by Shady Grove Fertility.

  • Ep 291: Timing is Everything: How Docs Prepare You for Frozen Embryo Transfer
    2025/09/09

Fertility Docs Uncensored is hosted by Dr. Carrie Bedient from the Fertility Center of Las Vegas, Dr. Susan Hudson from Texas Fertility Center, and Dr. Abby Eblen from Nashville Fertility Center. In this episode, your Fertility Docs unpack the different ways patients can be prepared for frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles—because there’s more than one path to pregnancy. From fully programmed cycles to completely natural approaches and modified natural protocols, the docs explain how each option works, what medications may be used, and the pros and cons of each. In a programmed cycle, the endometrium is carefully prepared with estrogen and then progesterone, with timing of the progesterone being critical to ensure the embryo is transferred during the ideal window of implantation. Natural cycles allow the body to take the lead, using ultrasound or ovulation kits to pinpoint ovulation and then timing progesterone and transfer accordingly. Modified natural cycles use letrozole and a trigger shot to encourage follicular growth, followed by progesterone support. While the approaches differ, success rates are similar—and the key takeaway is that there isn’t a single “right” way to prepare for FET. The best choice depends on your body, your doctor, and your unique journey. This podcast was sponsored by Shady Grove Fertility.

  • Ep 289: New Perspectives: The Value of a Second Opinion
    2025/08/26

Fertility Docs Uncensored is hosted by Dr. Carrie Bedient from the Fertility Center of Las Vegas, Dr. Susan Hudson from Texas Fertility Center, and Dr. Abby Eblen from Nashville Fertility Center. In this episode, the Docs are joined by Nicole Marchetto, MD, a physician at Shady Grove Fertility Pennsylvania, Lancaster and Chesterbrook, to talk about a topic many patients quietly wonder about—when is it time to consider a second opinion?

Seeking another perspective can feel intimidating, but Dr. Marchetto explains why most fertility doctors not only understand it but actually encourage it. A second opinion can help ensure that your treatment plan is appropriate—not outdated, not extreme, and not missing opportunities for success. Sometimes a fresh set of eyes leads to new approaches that your first doctor may not have considered.

Far from being adversarial, second opinions often confirm that you’re on the right path—or they may reveal alternative strategies that resonate more with your goals. If recommendations differ, it may be best to follow the physician whose plan makes the most sense to you, even if that means changing practices.

Bottom line: your journey deserves the best possible care, and getting another perspective can be an empowering step. This podcast was sponsored by Shady Grove Fertility.
