  • No Time to Work Out? Here's What to Do Instead of Skipping | Ep 92
    2026/07/01

Ever feel like a busy schedule is sabotaging your fitness goals? Hey there! 👋 I'm Jayd Harrison (Jaydigains), personal trainer and host of the Coaching Corner podcast. In this episode, I break down what to do when you can't find a consecutive 45-60 minute block for your workout — and why skipping it entirely shouldn't be your default. Drawing on lessons I give my personal training clients every week, I share why "something is better than nothing" needs to become your new mindset, especially if you tend toward all-or-nothing thinking when it comes to exercise.

I walk through three practical strategies for staying consistent during busy seasons: using just your warmup as a complete mini-session, breaking your full workout into muscle-group "chunks" you can tackle throughout the day, and prioritizing the highest-value exercises when you're truly pressed for time. I also explain the training logic behind why keeping same-muscle-group exercises together matters for building strength and size, so you can make smart decisions about how to adapt your workout without sacrificing your results.

Most importantly, this episode is a reminder that consistency beats perfection. Partial workouts and chunked sessions aren't a failure — they're what keep your momentum alive during hard seasons, so you don't have to restart from zero when life calms back down. • My Fat Loss Journey Part 3: End of Week 2 Check-In
    2026/06/21

Hey there! 👋 I'm Jayd Harrison (Jaydigains), personal trainer and host of the Coaching Corner podcast.

In this episode, I'm continuing my personal Fat Loss Transformation journey with an honest end-of-week check-in for Week 2. I walk through my new progress photos and flexing pics (including why I switched up my outfit to capture muscle definition), share the real reason my weight spiked after a weekend treat day, and explain why those big scale jumps don't mean what most people think they mean. I also open up about working around a strained quad — choosing to turn a planned leg day into a mobility and stability session instead of pushing through pain.

Beyond the numbers, I dive into my training split for the week, from leg press progressions and 3D lunges to an upper-body push/press day I streamed live on Twitch. I talk through my calorie intake strategy, why I'm considering accelerating my deficit slightly, and how creatine and hydration have been supporting my recovery. I also give you an inside look at my meal prep challenges — including a cereal impulse buy gone sideways and the bloat-and-recovery cycle that comes with eating outside my usual routine.

This episode is a candid look at what real, sustainable fat loss actually looks like week to week — fluctuations, treat days, minor injuries, and all. If you're on your own fat loss journey or curious about coaching with me, you'll find the link to apply for a free consultation in the show notes.

  • My Fat Loss Journey Part 2: End of Week 1 Reflection | Ep 90
    2026/06/08

Hey there! 👋 I'm Jayd Harrison (Jaydigains), personal trainer and host of the Coaching Corner podcast.

One week into my six-month fat loss journey, and the data is already telling an interesting story. In this episode, I'm sharing my Week 2 end-of-week reflection — including what I discovered after tracking every single meal and doing daily weigh-ins for seven days straight. The biggest surprise? I was undereating before I started, and eating more consistently is actually what's moving the needle. I break down why chronic undereating can slow your metabolism and work against fat loss, why daily weigh-ins give you better data than once-a-week check-ins, and how I'm using that first week of numbers to set up my calorie targets for the months ahead.

I also walk you through how my first week of training went — the good and the not-so-smart. I started my new four-day upper/lower split, got in some great pressing, pulling, and deadlift work, and experienced firsthand what happens when you skip your dynamic warm-up on leg day (spoiler: your knee reminds you about it for the next two days). I talk through each workout, what felt strong, what I'd do differently, and how I'm thinking about progressive overload while staying in a deficit.

If you're on your own fat loss journey — or thinking about starting one — this series is for you. I'm sharing the real numbers, the real mistakes, and everything I'm learning along the way. My Fat Loss Transformation Program is open if you want a coach guiding you through the same process. Find the link in the show notes, and follow the show so you never miss a weekly check-in.

  • Ep 89 Start Your Home Gym for Under $200 With These 5 Must-Have Pieces of Equipment
    2026/06/05

Hey there! 👋 I'm Jayd Harrison (Jaydigains), personal trainer and host of the Coaching Corner podcast.

Most people think building a home gym means spending a ton of money and taking up a ton of space — but it doesn't have to be that way. In this episode, I'm breaking down the five essential pieces of equipment every home gym needs, whether you're just starting your fitness journey or you're an experienced exerciser who prefers to train at home. These picks are beginner-friendly, space-efficient, and won't break the bank.

I'll walk you through each piece of equipment — from exercise mats and foam rollers to resistance bands and adjustable dumbbells — explaining not just what to get, but why each one earns its place in your setup. You'll learn how to use a foam roller to address tightness mid-workout, why you actually need two different kinds of mats, and how resistance bands can stand in for cable machines when you're training at home.

If you've been putting off building your home gym because it felt overwhelming or expensive, this episode gives you a clear, no-fluff starting point. These five pieces of equipment are all you need to build real strength, develop core stability, and start making consistent progress — no fancy setup required.

  • My Fat Loss Transformation Part 1: Starting Snapshot
    2026/06/03

Hey there! 👋 I'm Jayd Harrison (Jaydigains), personal trainer and host of the Coaching Corner podcast. I'm officially kicking off a brand new 6-month series on The Coaching Corner — and this one is personal.

I'm going through my own Fat Loss Transformation Program, the same program I use with my personal training clients, and I'm bringing you along for every step of the journey. My goal isn't just to lose weight — it's to reduce my body fat percentage to around 22% while maintaining (and hopefully building on) the muscle I've put on over the last two years. I'm taking a slow, sustainable approach with a modest calorie deficit so I can prioritize fat loss without sacrificing the muscle I've worked hard for.

In this first episode, I walk you through the Starting Snapshot process — the foundation of the program. That means going through the full intake questionnaire, stepping on the smart scale (141 lbs, ~28% estimated body fat), taking all my body measurements, and doing the progress photos that everyone dreads but will absolutely be grateful for later. I also get real about where my nutrition currently stands: mostly pescatarian, probably undereating, definitely consuming too much hot-chocolate-coffee, and not tracking my food at all — yet. Week 1's assignment is to change that and get a true picture of my baseline calorie intake before making any adjustments.

If you've ever wanted to see what a real, evidence-based fat loss program looks like from day one — no crash diets, no extreme restriction, just a thoughtful process guided by data and decades of experience — this series is for you. And if you want to run the program alongside me, I'm currently accepting new clients into the Fat Loss Transformation Program. Click here to sign up!

  • Ep 87 Is Functional Training Better Than Bodybuilding?
    2026/05/27

Hey there! 👋 I'm Jayd Harrison (Jaydigains), personal trainer and host of the Coaching Corner podcast. In this episode, we're talking all about functional training.

"Functional fitness" is one of the most popular terms in the gym world right now — but what does it actually mean? In this episode, we trace the concept back to its roots in physical therapy and rehabilitation, where the original question was simple: can this person do the things daily life requires of them? From there, we unpack how the term got co-opted by fitness marketing and gym culture, and how it quietly became an ideology that pits "real" training against bodybuilding-style work.

Along the way, we challenge the idea that training for aesthetics and training for health are somehow in conflict. Spoiler: they're not. Building muscle is functional — it improves metabolic health, joint stability, bone density, and longevity. The research doesn't support the idea that isolation exercises are less legitimate than compound movements for healthy people. What matters far more is whether your program is well-designed, progressive, and built around your specific body and goals.

If you've ever felt like your workouts weren't "real" training, or wondered whether what you're doing in the gym actually translates to real life, this episode is for you. We close out with a look at what a program actually built on these principles looks like — and how having a clear, structured plan changes everything.

  • Ep 86 Still Stuck at the Same Weight? Here's Why
    2026/05/20

Hey there! 👋 I'm Jayd Harrison (Jaydigains), personal trainer and host of the Coaching Corner podcast.

If you've been going to the gym consistently, eating your vegetables, and still can't get your body to change—this episode is for you. Hitting a plateau doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. In fact, it usually means you've already built the foundation most people struggle to establish. In this episode, I break down exactly why plateaus happen and what to do about them, drawing on over a decade of personal training experience and my own frustrating journey with stubborn fat, overtraining, and injury in my early 20s.

I walk through the three most common tweaks that get my clients moving again: adding structured strength training, tracking calories, and getting coaching support so you can stay consistent. I also get into the science of realistic timelines—what a sustainable rate of fat loss and muscle growth actually looks like.

If you've ever felt like you're doing everything right and getting nothing for it, this episode will give you a clear picture of what's actually going on in your body—and a practical path forward.
