Episode #6
We love wine. However we don't know much about it, in comes Annette Bruley, Manager and Wine Director at Midfield Wine Bar!
Having enjoyed a solid pizza slinging career at Pizza Hut back in the late 80s, a decade in the corporate communications & design industry, and then a stint in the cruise ship industry, Annette decided to jump back into food & wine in 2008 at the inspirational Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar. Since then she has been mentored by some of the top sommeliers in Toronto including Jamie Drummond, Christopher Sealy and Svetlana Atcheva of Pearl Morissette, as well as managing some of the most fun and dynamic minimal intervention and natural wine lists in the city. She has been managing the wine list at Midfield Wine Bar since 2018, the longest-running natural wine bar in Toronto, established in 2012.
See below for Annette's top picks and the wines we sampled during the podcast. Better yet reach out to Annette directly at Midfield in Toronto and get started curating your perfect at home wine list!

Here's what we tried:
White:
This is our cheap and cheerful Sauvignon Blanc blend from France. Nothing overly special about it but it's a great table wine.

This is a wild card. It's Sauvignon Blanc from Australia, made with skin contact ("orange wine") and also made using a method called "carbonic maceration"
