Midweek Reset: When Everything Is Changing, God Doesn't

Everything in my life seems to be changing at once. My daughter is preparing for marriage, my oldest son is leaving for Marine Corps boot camp, and my youngest just got his driver's license.

These are all wonderful milestones, but I've discovered something: Good changes can still be hard changes.

After 21 years of motherhood, I'm finding myself asking a question I never expected: Who am I when my children don't need me in the same ways anymore?

In today's Midweek Reset, we're talking about navigating life's changing seasons, finding our identity in Christ, and taking comfort in the beautiful truth that while everything around us may change, God never does.

His character doesn't change. His faithfulness isn't seasonal. And our identity in Christ doesn't disappear when a chapter of our lives comes to an end.

Whatever season you're walking through, I hope today's episode reminds you that you can find comfort and security in the One who remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.

    Scriptures: Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8

My prayer is that together we can become women whose minds are shaped by God's Word instead of by the world around us.

  • I Felt Convicted: Why I Stopped Reading These Books
    2026/09/21

Almost two years ago, I was a BookTok girl who loved fantasy and romance novels. Then I saw an Instagram reel that made me angry—not necessarily because I thought she was wrong, but because deep down, I knew there was truth in what she was saying.

In this episode, I’m sharing a part of my story that requires me to be pretty open and vulnerable. What started as conviction over sexually explicit content eventually revealed something much deeper about my heart: what I was filling my mind with, what was getting so much of my time and attention, and how unwilling I initially was to surrender something I loved.

We’ll talk about the difference between simply enjoying fiction and allowing something to become an idol, whether sexually explicit books can affect our hearts in ways similar to pornography, and why I eventually had to stop asking, “Am I allowed to do this?” and start asking better questions:

    Is this glorifying God?
What is this producing in me?
What appetite is it cultivating?
And if God asked me to surrender it, would I be willing?

This isn’t about creating a list of books Christian women can and cannot read. It’s about examining what is shaping our minds—and what we do when God brings conviction.

Nearly two years later, I can see the fruit of repentance, and more than anything, I’m thankful that God didn’t leave my heart where it was.

  • Friday Focus: Be Quick to Listen | James 1:19
    2026/09/18

Are you really listening—or are you just waiting for your turn to speak?

In this week’s Friday Focus, we’re looking at the simple but deeply convicting instruction in James 1:19–20: be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.

As we head into the weekend and spend time with our families, friends, and church family, let’s practice listening before we respond. We don’t have to correct every misunderstanding, say every thought that comes into our minds, or win every disagreement.

Sometimes wisdom looks like being quiet long enough to truly understand the person in front of us.

Your Friday Focus this week: Listen before you respond.

My prayer is that together we can become women whose minds are shaped by God’s Word rather than the world around us.

  • Midweek Reset: You Don’t Need Tomorrow’s Manna Today
    2026/09/16

Have you ever found yourself worrying about what you’ll need tomorrow before you’ve even finished walking through today?

In Exodus 16, God provided manna for the Israelites in the wilderness—but He taught them to gather what they needed for that day. Reading that story reminded me of the way Jesus taught us to pray: “Give us this day our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11)

Sometimes we want tomorrow’s manna today. We want tomorrow’s answers, tomorrow’s strength, tomorrow’s provision, and tomorrow’s grace because knowing we’ll have enough makes us feel secure.

But there’s a difference between planning for tomorrow and trying to carry tomorrow.

In this Midweek Reset, we’re talking about what Israel’s daily manna can teach us about trusting God’s provision, Jesus’ words about worrying for tomorrow, and learning to receive what God has given us for today.

Maybe God hasn’t given you what you’ll need for tomorrow because today isn’t tomorrow.

He has given you grace for today. And when tomorrow becomes today, He will still be faithful.

    Scriptures: Exodus 16; Matthew 6:11, 31–34; Lamentations 3:22–23

My prayer is that together we can become women whose minds are shaped by God’s Word instead of by the world around us.

  • Are You Bearing Fruit? | What It Really Means to Abide in Christ
    2026/09/15

What does it actually mean to abide in Christ—and what kind of fruit should that produce in our lives?

In John 15, Jesus describes Himself as the vine and His followers as the branches. We cannot produce lasting spiritual fruit by simply trying harder. Fruit comes from remaining connected to Christ.

In this episode of A Preacher’s Wife, we’re digging into what it means to abide in Jesus, what Scripture says about bearing fruit, and why genuine faith should produce visible change in the way we live.

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about asking ourselves an important question: If I am abiding in Christ, is there evidence of His work in my life?

  • Friday Focus: Look for Good Works
    2026/09/11

What if some of the good works God has prepared for you aren’t big, dramatic things—but ordinary opportunities sitting right in front of you?

    Ephesians 2:10 tells us:

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

In this week’s Friday Focus, we’re taking that truth into the weekend and asking a simple question:

“God, what good works have You put in front of me today?”

Maybe it’s encouraging someone who needs it, noticing the person who is often overlooked, serving your family, being generous, forgiving someone, or simply stopping long enough to recognize an opportunity to love someone well.

And remember the verses immediately before Ephesians 2:10: we aren’t saved by our good works. We are saved by grace through faith—and then created in Christ Jesus for good works.

So this weekend, pay attention. Look at the people and needs God has placed around you, and don’t dismiss an opportunity just because it seems small.

🤎 Your Friday Focus: Look for the good works. God has prepared them; our job is to walk in them.

  • Most Christians Fall Into One of These Extremes | It’s Not About Being Perfect
    2026/09/08

Have you ever felt like your walk with God swings between two extremes?

On one side, our faith can become driven by our feelings—when we feel close to God, we pursue Him, but when we don’t, our habits fall apart. On the other side, we can turn our faith into a religious checklist—Bible reading, prayer, quiet time, serving—doing all the “right” things while forgetting the relationship behind them.

In this episode of A Preacher’s Wife, we’re talking about these two extremes and what it looks like to pursue God faithfully without chasing feelings or falling into empty religious routine.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about pursuing Him.

  • Friday Focus: Pay Attention to What You’re Paying Attention To
    2026/09/04

What has been getting most of your attention lately?

It’s easy to become so focused on everything that’s wrong—our worries, disappointments, unfinished tasks, and difficult circumstances—that we lose sight of what is still true.

In this week’s Friday Focus, we’re looking at Philippians 4 and reminding ourselves that Scripture doesn’t tell us to pretend the hard things aren’t hard. Instead, it redirects our attention to what is true.

Sometimes we don’t need better circumstances before we can have joy. Sometimes we need to remember what is true.

Take this little reminder with you into your weekend: Pay attention to what you’re paying attention to.
