Everything in my life seems to be changing at once. My daughter is preparing for marriage, my oldest son is leaving for Marine Corps boot camp, and my youngest just got his driver's license.

These are all wonderful milestones, but I've discovered something: Good changes can still be hard changes.

After 21 years of motherhood, I'm finding myself asking a question I never expected: Who am I when my children don't need me in the same ways anymore?

In today's Midweek Reset, we're talking about navigating life's changing seasons, finding our identity in Christ, and taking comfort in the beautiful truth that while everything around us may change, God never does.

His character doesn't change. His faithfulness isn't seasonal. And our identity in Christ doesn't disappear when a chapter of our lives comes to an end.

Whatever season you're walking through, I hope today's episode reminds you that you can find comfort and security in the One who remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.

In this episode, I’m sharing a part of my story that requires me to be pretty open and vulnerable. What started as conviction over sexually explicit content eventually revealed something much deeper about my heart: what I was filling my mind with, what was getting so much of my time and attention, and how unwilling I initially was to surrender something I loved.

We’ll talk about the difference between simply enjoying fiction and allowing something to become an idol, whether sexually explicit books can affect our hearts in ways similar to pornography, and why I eventually had to stop asking, “Am I allowed to do this?” and start asking better questions:

This isn’t about creating a list of books Christian women can and cannot read. It’s about examining what is shaping our minds—and what we do when God brings conviction.

Nearly two years later, I can see the fruit of repentance, and more than anything, I’m thankful that God didn’t leave my heart where it was.

In this week’s Friday Focus, we’re looking at the simple but deeply convicting instruction in James 1:19–20: be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.

As we head into the weekend and spend time with our families, friends, and church family, let’s practice listening before we respond. We don’t have to correct every misunderstanding, say every thought that comes into our minds, or win every disagreement.

Sometimes wisdom looks like being quiet long enough to truly understand the person in front of us.
