I’ve been in this life for 50 years, been trying to work out its riddle for 42, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last 35. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me.

Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

Dweck explains why it's not just our abilities and talent that bring us success - but whether we approach them with a fixed or growth mindset. She makes clear why praising intelligence and ability doesn't foster self-esteem and lead to accomplishment but may actually jeopardise success.

Tara Westover was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she prepared for the end of the world by stockpiling home-canned peaches. In the summer she stewed herbs for her mother, a midwife and healer, and in the winter she salvaged in her father's junkyard. Her father forbade hospitals, so Tara never saw a doctor or nurse. Gashes and concussions, even burns from explosions, were all treated at home with herbalism. Then, lacking any formal education, Tara began to educate herself. Her quest for knowledge transformed her.

あらすじ・解説
The Sunday Times number one best seller
Jay Shetty, social media superstar and host of the number one podcast ‘On Purpose’, distils the timeless wisdom he learned as a practising monk into practical steps anyone can take every day to live a less anxious, more meaningful life.
Over the past three years, Jay Shetty has become a favourite in the hearts and minds of millions of people worldwide. One of his clips was the most watched video on Facebook last year, with over 360 million views. His social media following totals over 32 million, he has produced over 400 viral videos, which have amassed more than 5 billion views, and his podcast, ‘On Purpose’, is consistently ranked the world’s #1 health-related podcast.
In this inspiring, empowering book, Shetty draws on his time as a monk in the Vedic tradition to show us how we can clear the roadblocks to our potential and power. Drawing on ancient wisdom and his own rich experiences in the ashram, Think Like a Monk reveals how to overcome negative thoughts and habits, and access the calm and purpose that lie within all of us.
The lessons monks learn are profound but often abstract. Shetty transforms them into advice and exercises we can all apply to reduce stress, improve focus, improve relationships, identify our hidden abilities, increase self-discipline and give the gifts we find in ourselves to the world. Shetty proves that everyone can – and should – think like a monk

Jay Sherry is a fraud!! “Nichol Arber”!!!
Absolutely gutted to realise that almost every word out of his mouth is plagiarised. I have been a fan for a while but something always felt too familiar, like I’d read it all before somewhere. Having been disabled for a few years, I have spent everyday listening to and reading material to be more positive. His quotes are all directly stolen from other people. I wish I could get my money back and not support someone who is a millionaire from theft. Nichole arber has a video on YouTube which shows quote by quote where he stole his work from. Disgusting he has got so far by taking other people’s work and claiming he wrote it. Will never support or listen to him again. Don’t waste your time or money - everything he says has been said before by someone who is actually a talented life coach to follow. 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Theres Nothing New Under the Sun
As much as there was great wisdom advice and stories shared. none of of was new or revolutionary. I also couldn't help but feel patronised on occasions , when speaking in rhetorics it often came from the negative perspective e.g. when you wake up in the morning is the first thing you do reach for your phone ... I will however read this again as it was good to get a fuller understanding of dharma and sewa.

This book will transform your life!
Simple. Practical. Authentic. This audible version of Jay reading his book can only be described as the best ever narrated by author book on audible i have ever heard Positive, eloquent and high energy from start to finish - i can only describe this to be a 10 hr podcast by Jay that you just don’t want to turn off or even miss a word spoken. Completed this 10 hr narration in a single day - yes. It is THAT good! Ancient wisdom articulated in how to apply in this modern world in a useful and practical way will surely only have one outcome. And that is Jay succeeding in his vision of making wisdom go viral. Jay - when is book #2 coming out!!

The new Bible of our time.
Now I know that headline will get me in trouble, but seriously this book if followed, can only bring good to our world. Thank you Jay Shetty for doing the work 🙏🏻 and condensing it into a book that we can all go away from ( or if you’re like me read again and again) and go forward with meaning in our lives. New tools that help us create that soul centred life we are all chasing but didn’t know we were. I am so grateful to have read this and to have the right questions to ask of and for myself. Almost instantly I am drinking my food and chewing my water 😂🤣. I am keeping within my most productive quadrant and I am looking at the old in new ways. Nothing is mundane anymore. You have inspired in me the service of my dharma and I am excited because I asked where the motivation came from to want to do this and it is a place of love and care. I’m sure it will take a lifetime to tame my ego but each day and new practices will now be its monitor. Seriously grab a copy of this book, it is what we all need.

'Think Like a Monk' provides so many aspects that I will find it hard to believe if each person that reads it doesn't take something of value from it. I couldn't stop listening and I also purchased the hard copy to refer to. I've read many books and I think this may be the best and most life changing one. Absolutely fantastic! It has so many great life lessons and Jay is just so humble. He reads the book to you and it was great because it felt like you are in a conversation and a coaching session. I would recommend this book for anyone he wants to start changing their thinking patterns and look depth within, so that they can develop their true authentic selves or as Jay refers to it their "Monk Mind" . The activities Jay includes in the book are fantastic and I couldn't help myself and have now purchased the hard copy of the book so that I can go through these at my own time and pace. Definitely a major winner and won't disappoint!

A handful of Apples to take away
It's handful of delicious and nutritious fruits to take away from Jay's book. I've always liked his tone so that I'm very happy he reads his own book this time. The book is structured in order hence it is easy to follow the flow of the lessons. A must read, food for the soul.
