In Our Sanctuary, Spurgeon proclaims that God Himself —not temple, ritual, nor place —is the believer’s refuge and dwelling. He unfolds Jeremiah’s declaration that “A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary” , showing God as sovereign, eternal, and reigning with justice, power, and love. Spurgeon contrasts the safety of God’s throne with the peril of forsaking Him, warning that those who depart “shall be ashamed” and “written in the earth” .
