The year is 1982 and the people of Fervent-on-Hudson have begun to move on from a local double homicide that upended the once-quiet town. In the still-segregated town of West Mills, North Carolina, in 1976, Marian, Marva, and Lazarus Harmon—three enigmatic siblings—are found shot to death in their home.
