Nineteen tales of murder and mystery in the first three books to feature H.C. Bailey's golden age detective Mr. Reginald 'Reggie' Fortune: surgeon and general practitioner, a man interested in everything, but not in anything in particular, and with a vast store of eclectic knowledge that makes him the ideal man to advise the Criminal Investigation Department of Scotland Yard, and shine a light upon the darkest of deeds.

One year ago, Sergeant Rosemary Booker violently ended crime lord Erkan Waldemar’s reign of terror - and in doing so, unwittingly awakened in his wife, Isabel, the sleeping soul of the legendary Blood Countess Erzsébet Báthory. Hellbent on avenging her husband’s death, Báthory sets out to gather to her side history’s most notorious criminals and killers - an army of the damned to carry out her vendetta against Rosemary. The sins of Rosemary’s past are returning with a vengeance.

A family breakfast. A casual remark — "the only husband I ever had." And a man whose heart, by lunchtime, will have stopped for reasons that have nothing to do with his heart. Reggie Fortune doesn't investigate. He drawls, he sighs, he says "my dear chap" — and somewhere underneath all that languor, he's already counting the lies. There were two victims that morning. Only one of them was found in the wood.

Mr Fortune Explains is HC Bailey's sixth collection of eight golden-age mysteries for the eclectic surgeon-detective Mr Reginald Fortune. Including a child kidnapped from a picnic; a milliner's assistant vanishing from home without a word to her friends; a strange visit, followed by a violent attack on Mr Fortune himself; a raid on a jeweler's shop, and the theft of a photograph; an ill-situated rock garden, and a haunted man; a rigidly saintly clergyman suspected of a trivial theft; a dead policeman and a broken bicycle lamp; and a curiously disturbing picture in the Paris salon.

Theo Briggs is a rule follower. He's a decent student in his junior year, an appeasing son, and a lifelong Christian, just trying to make it through high school unscathed. Caleb Raynard is a romantic. One of the few out-and-proud kids at Specter High School, Caleb's dating life has been hellish, to say the least—fraught with misread social cues and embarrassing situations—and Caleb is about ready to call the whole thing off. When Theo and Caleb meet in the basement of an old Catholic church that's rumored to be haunted, an instant and electric connection forms between them.

A fifth collection of eight golden-age detective mysteries for H. C. Bailey's eclectic scientific detective Mr. Reginald Fortune. Including a stock market bubble and a sudden death; a wealthy businessman threatened by a mystery man; a mountaineering accident in the shadow of the Jungfrau; a curious archaeological discovery; a series of crimes in a quiet cathedral close; and two very different violent deaths, with an unexpected link.

The eclectic surgeon-detective Mr. Reggie Fortune solves a fourth collection of Golden Age mysteries, including: the sudden disappearance of a husband; a skillful but oddly undiscriminating cat burglar; a jewel theft at a society party; a cryptic inscription on an ancient oak chest; a fatal poisoning and a troubled woman; and the whimsical theft of a Persian kitten—which leads Mr. Fortune to a far more chilling and sinister crime.

Erzsébet doesn’t want to start a revolution. She just wants to keep her head warm in the winter. When she goes against tribal tradition and refuses to shave her head, she learns of a history as twisted as her lengthy locks.

At the age of 13, Trisha Bailey migrated to the United States from Jamaica, leaving behind her family, who were filled with hope and prayers for her future success. While some may perceive her past as dark and traumatic, Trisha Bailey has transformed those experiences into stepping stones towards her own empowerment, fearlessly confronting the obstacles that came her way. In her book, Unbroken, she vividly depicts her life in a manner that deeply resonates with listeners, immersing them in her captivating story.

A third collection of mysteries to challenge H C Bailey's golden age sleuth, the eclectic Mr. Reginald Fortune, advisor to Scotland Yard's Criminal Investigation Department on all things medical, scientific—and downright strange. Including a vendetta against Mr. Fortune himself; an athletic hero accused of murder; a young man who wants to confess, but does not know to what; anonymous letters to an unpopular civil servant; the strange persecution of an archaeologist and his secretary; and the unexplained death of a war profiteer...

Horace is so excited to play with his friend, Mary McKay, a beautiful and graceful wombat. When she asks if he has a hat to protect his face from the sun, he tells her he doesn’t need one.

Seven more cases for HC Bailey's eclectic golden age sleuth Mr Reginald Fortune: surgeon, general practitioner, and advisor to Scotland Yard wherever surgery, medicine or kindred sciences can elucidate what is or is not crime. Including: a sudden death at Royal Ascot; a young doctor accused of a diamond theft; a strange country house burglary; an incident at the British Museum leading to a far darker crime; a vanished actress; and a diabolical murder at an orphanage, linked to an apparently accidental death and a near-fatal poisoning.

A collection of 6 short stories from the golden age of detective fiction, introducing H. C. Bailey's amateur sleuth Mr. Reginald Fortune, surgeon and general practitioner: a man interested in everything, but not in anything in particular, whose vast store of eclectic knowledge makes him just the man to help Scotland Yard unravel the most complex of murders, no matter how privileged or powerful the perpetrator may be...

Poetry is about empathy, imagination, observation, and about internal and external truths. These works focus on a person's relationship with nature, others, and self, through depicting hope, love, memory, shame, immortality, acceptance, faith, happiness, confidence, passion, recognition, diversity, perseverance, forgiveness, vulnerability, and loneliness. Nevertheless, this poetry collection is like an assortment of gothic romances, because, despite a melodramatic imagination, love somehow finds a way to dominate and triumph all else.

In 1859, at the largest recorded slave auction in American history, more than 400 men, women, and children were sold by the Butler Plantation estates. This book is one of the first to analyze the operation of this auction and trace the lives of slaves before, during, and after their sale. Immersing herself in the personal papers of the Butlers, accounts from journalists that witnessed the auction, genealogical records, and oral histories, Anne C. Bailey weaves together a narrative that brings the auction to life.

Thinking she had little time left, she spent her life’s savings to undertake a project that would be a unique experience and fill her final days.
