Each human heart is fashioned ‘in a unique manner’ by the Creator. It is the true temple where man can meet God and unite with Him. This is why the heart requires ‘a noetic and divine sensation’. However, man is now fallen, his mind scattered throughout all creation, and his heart in a state of lethargy. His tragedy lies in the fact that he lives, speaks, thinks, and even prays outside his own heart. To be healed, the heart must be awakened, the mind must return to its place, and unite with the heart.

The path of every man toward God and his relationship with Him is unique. However, because we all share the same human nature, there are certain stages and characteristics common to our spiritual journey.

Prayer, as Saint Sophrony said, is ‘infinite creation’ because it opens before man infinite paths to eternity. It abolishes the power of the spirit of evil, which is a spirit of destruction and ruin, and attracts the Presence of the creative Holy Spirit. The Paraclete Spirit endlessly enlarges the heart of man. He renders it into a place of charismatic divine Presence and a temple made without hands, where supplication and intercession are offered for the whole world.
