La storia si snoda tra la corte di Luigi XIV, il Re Sole, a Versailles, e le avventure di una famiglia di Ugonotti costretta a fuggire dalla Francia, a causa della persecuzione ordinata dal Re, fino in Canada, in piena sommossa Irochese. Certo siamo lontani dal fascino londinese delle storie di Sherlock Holmes, ma la ricostruzione storica e le avventure a ripetizione fanno di questo un lavoro interessante e facilmente fruibile.
