    On this episode of The Wisconsin Sportsman, Pierce is joined by Tony Peterson to dive into the world of Mississippi River smallmouth fishing! Tony is an outdoor writer, public land hunter, and Minnesota-native who grew up hunting and fishing around the Mississippi River, since then he's competed in countless bass tournaments both on the river and around the Midwest. In this episode, the guys dive into finding big trout in unclassified waters, how to break down the Mississippi into manageable chunks, fish consciousness, types of structure smallmouth are likely to relate to, different lures for different types of water, the importance of non-intrusive fishing, and much more.   • Central Sands Trout Tactics with Chris Firkus

    On this episode of The Wisconsin Sportsman, Pierce sits down with Chris Firkus of Sandhill Fly Fishing to dive learn all about fly fishing for big trout in the Central Sands region of Wisconsin!

    Chris grew up fishing the sand streams of central Wisconsin and has spent the better part of his life learning and exploring these secluded waters in search of big trout! The guys dive into Chris's early years of commercial fly tying, how these streams differ from Driftless Streams, the importance of frogs in a trout's diet, streamer color theory, necessary tackle and gear for these streams, night fishing tactics, capitalizing on the hex hatch, and the importance of community in the outdoor space.   • Mastering Cheese & Turkeys with Justin Snyder

    On this episode of The Wisconsin Sportsman, Pierce sits down with Justin Snyder to recap a successful turkey season and unpack the journey of a new hunter! Justin is a Wisconsin native Cheesemaker at Carr Valley Cheese, and an avid turkey hunter. The guys discuss Justin's journey as a newer hunter, and how he got into hunting back in 2020. Justin shares some stories and highlights from this turkey season including his first successful hunt as a mentor during the Learn to Hunt Turkeys event last spring. After that, the guys dive into the importance of soft turkey calling, how hunting too aggressively can come back to bite you, natural selection leading to Pierce punching a tag, and much more!

    On this episode of The Wisconsin Sportsman, Pierce dives back into the world of Driftless Trout to share his thoughts on essential skills to help you all catch more trout this season! Pierce kicks things off with the story of a close call on a stubborn public land turkey, before diving into some essential skills for targeting small stream trout in Wisconsin's Driftless region. He explains the importance of properly positioning yourself before even making a cast, why and how small stream casting is different than traditional big-water casting technique, the importance of reading the streambed before looking at the surface of the water, focusing on what your fly is doing below the surface, and some tips to avoid snags and lose fewer flies.   • Turknados & Time for Action
    2026/05/05

    On this episode of The Wisconsin Sportsman, Pierce flies solo to share the story of how he punched his turkey tag and the need for action in light of Wisconsin's DNR budget cuts. In a recent article from Outdoor Life, it was announced that the state of Wisconsin will be reducing stocking efforts and wildlife surveys in 2027 due to budgetary issues. Pierce dives into why leaning into Conservation Organizations and doing everything we can to be the best conservationists and stewards of the land is more important than ever right now, to attempt to fill the gap created by these budgetary issues. After that, we hear from Ben & Paul from Yellowstone.AI Trail Cameras, to learn more about some awesome new products coming out of Wisconsin! Lastly, Pierce shares the story of the Turknado; a storm of owl hooting and turkey gobbling so violent you won't know which way is up until it leads to a punched tag!
