On this episode of The Wisconsin Sportsman, Pierce is joined by Kevin Wegner to learn how we can all push ourselves a little bit further, and become better outdoorsmen! Kevin is a Wisconsin-native who has spent his life hunting, fishing, and paddling. The guys discuss Kevin's experiences as an outdoor sales rep, and how technology has started to interfere with being a good woodsman in today's modern age. Then, Kevin shares some of his experiences from doing adventure races such as the Minnesota Border Challenge, and the St. Croix Winter Ultra, and lessons learned about the importance of calming down before making decisions, navigating, working as a team, and staying mentally sound. To cap it off, Kevin breaks down how he trains for the wilderness, the importance of knowing your gear inside and out, and how to stay warm in the treestand this season. On this episode of The Wisconsin Sportsman, Pierce is joined by Andrew Wolfe just minutes before shooting light, for a one-of-a-kind episode live from the duck blind! The guys met up early to try and capitalize on a strong Northwest wind and a cold front last week, in hopes of shooting a limit of greenheads. That didn't go quite as planned, but as it often goes on slow duck hunts, it lead to some great conversation ranging from favorite non-game animals, to bear encounters, to what Seagull might taste like, and even worked in a few waterfowl tactics to try and capture the true essence of just shooting the breeze in the duck blind!
