  • Building Confidence and Visibility as an Entrepreneur with Guest Katie Bloomfield
    2025/07/02

This episode might ruffle a few feathers, so brace yourself, especially if you’ve bought into the never-ending online chatter about visibility and how it’s the magic bullet for success. If the phrase “just be more visible” rings in your ears every time you scroll, you’ll find this conversation refreshingly real.

    WHO IS KATIE BLOOMFIELD?
Laura’s guest, Katie Bloomfield, is a property investor, high-performance business mentor, and all-around powerhouse. With a £7 million property portfolio, multiple business sales under her belt, and a blended family of six children, Katie’s not just about spreadsheets and bottom lines. She and her husband, Danny, empower their clients to create real wealth and strong relationships, without losing themselves to the grind.

PEELING BACK THE LAYERS: WHAT DOES “BEING VISIBLE” REALLY MEAN?
Let’s face it: the pressure to “be visible” has been widespread, especially since 2020. But what are we actually talking about?

→ Is it just about showing up on Instagram or Facebook?
→ Do you really need to match, exceed, or even care what others are doing online?
→ Or is there something deeper at play, like your sense of purpose, your values, and the story you have to share?

Katie and Laura both agree: Visibility isn’t the golden ticket. It’s not about playing a popularity contest or out shouting the next entrepreneur.

    It’s about:
✨ Knowing your own values and motivations
✨ Owning your successes (without feeling like you’re bragging)
✨ Showing up with honesty—especially when things aren’t going perfectly

    THE UGLY SIDE OF GROWTH
Let’s be real, self-development often looks a lot less glamorous than what you see in your feed. Growth sometimes means ugly crying at 1am, taking radical accountability, and letting go of who others think you should be.

    FIND YOUR OWN DEFINITION
If you’re waiting for that magical wave of confidence before you hit “share” or go live, consider this: confidence isn’t something you’re handed; it’s something you build by doing the scary stuff, over and over. Just like learning to ride a bike (or as Katie more authentically puts it... first time sex!).

And remember, the numbers flashing across your screen, the highlight reels, and the “millionaire” mantras? They’re just facts, not badges of superiority. Success is personal. For some, it’s making sports day. For others, it’s having a thriving business or being able to take Fridays off with family.

    LESSONS & TAKEAWAYS:
Ditch the pressure to be “competitively visible.”
Anchor into your own purpose, strengths, and the impact you want to make.
Share the messy, the vulnerable, and the real—not just the highlight reel.
Don’t let other people’s opinions dictate your worth or your strategy.
See confidence as a muscle you build and as an emotion that comes and goes.
Find your support circle. Invest in it if you have to.

    BONUS: Mistakes ARE the journey.
Katie and Danny have even compiled their 10 biggest business mistakes and how you can avoid them. Because true credibility comes from walking the walk, failing, learning, and then sharing those lessons to lift others higher.

Ready to shake off the “visibility” pressure and get real about what actually moves you forward? Start with radical honesty: Where are you, really? Where do you want to be? And what can you do TODAY to inch closer?

  • The Secret to Attracting Hell Yes Clients: Public Relations Meets Self Development
    2025/06/18

Grab a cuppa or pop your headphones in, because this episode is going to ruffle a few feathers, especially if you’re obsessed with the idea that self-development is a “nice-to-have” rather than the roaring engine behind your PR and business success. Be prepared for a tell-it-like-it-is deep dive into the messy, magical, and sometimes down right unglamorous world of personal growth as the real secret sauce behind getting noticed, becoming magnetic, and building a business that actually lights you up.

    SELF-DEVELOPMENT: THE (OFTEN) UGLY TRUTH

Let’s not sugarcoat it: Self-development isn’t all affirmations and shiny journaling sessions. Host Laura is calling bullshit on the idea that building confidence, visibility, and a magnetic business presence is just about showing up. It’s about looking yourself in the mirror and owning every part of your journey—the good, the bad, and the downright messy.

You want to become niche famous? You want those “hell yes, pay-in-full” clients? Guess what—the journey starts INSIDE before anything happens on the outside.

WHY SELF-DEVELOPMENT BELONGS AT THE HEART OF BUSINESS (AND PR)

You might think business growth is all about tactics, quick hacks, and mastering algorithms. Wrong.

True magnetism? True impact? It’s born from:

Radical responsibility (yep, even when you’re in the trenches)

Unapologetic self-expression (cue numerology, human design, and all those so-called “woo” modalities Laura loves)

Constant evolution, not simply ticking boxes

It’s not about plasters or pretending things are perfect for social media. It’s about becoming resilient, adaptable, and willing to go places inside yourself most people run from.

THE GLOW-UP NO ONE TALKS ABOUT

Let’s debunk the “overnight success” nonsense. Laura’s been in the game for over a decade. She’s lived the reinventions (hello, marriage and rebrand in 2018), the pivots, and, most importantly, invested deeply in her self-awareness through everything from human design (Generator, anyone?) to numerology (if you’re a three, you’ll feel this), and the support of her business besties.

GETTING VISIBLE: IT STARTS WITH TRUSTING YOURSELF

Confidence isn’t pretending to be someone you’re not. It’s about knowing yourself inside out, so when the trolls show up or clients doubt your process, you stand taller (and maybe swear a bit more loudly—on brand for Laura, obviously).

PR is NOT just about being seen. It’s about being seen for the right things, by the right people, in the right spaces. If you’re not embodying your gifts, you’re just another voice in the noise.

THE PRACTICAL MAGIC: MODALITIES THAT MATTER

This season, Laura’s bringing in a handpicked lineup of absolute experts, think visibility coaches, numerologists, human design mavens, and more, to break down REAL self-development modalities. No snake oil, no passing on recommendations she hasn’t personally tested (unless coming from her most trusted inner circle).

If you’re tired of “just manifest it” or cookie-cutter advice, get ready for conversations that go deep and deliver practical next steps for both your PR and your personal growth.

REAL TALK: BUSINESS ISN’T EASY, BUT IT GETS TO BE FUN

If you feel like you’re constantly hustling, jumping from idea to idea, or worried that you’re “flaky” because you evolve so quickly, Good news is: You’re not broken, you’re just growing faster than most people can keep up. The trick is to own your energy, your pivot power, and your imperfections.

  • Client Success Story - An Interview with Kate Davis
    2025/06/04

A Client’s Perspective: In Conversation with Kate Davis, Leadership Coach & Founder of Meraki People.

If you think you know what PR is all about, think again. In this episode, we’re flipping the script on the typical public relations narrative. Today, I’m joined by my very own client (full transparency!), Kate Davis, an outstanding leadership coach and founder of Meraki People, to get a real-world, unfiltered account of what working with a PR specialist does for your business.

    You might be wondering…

Is PR all just noise, or can it really shift the dial in your business and your confidence?

Where does it fit in alongside all those “be more visible” and “shout about yourself” mantras you see plastered over social media?

    Let’s break it down.

REALITY CHECK: PR ISN’T WHAT YOU’VE BEEN SOLD

Kate admits she used to groan at the mention of PR agencies, and honestly, who could blame her? Her experience in the event industry left her convinced that traditional PR was a box-ticking exercise led by people with a different agenda. Later, as her own business grew, she noticed many PRs obsessed with “getting coverage for coverage’s sake”, but what value does a random photo in the local paper have if your client isn’t reading it?

    Spoiler: None.

So what changed? Covid, and then… working with me 😉. Suddenly, PR wasn’t about being everywhere. It was about being strategic, relevant, and intentional.

    BUILDING CONFIDENCE, CREDIBILITY & CONNECTION

PR, done strategically, is about so much more than “visibility.” It’s about message, presence, and purpose.

Kate shares how mapping out a proper strategy, from pinning down your ideal client to targeting the right publications, helps you step into a bigger arena (think The Guardian and Stylist) and actually say something that matters. Seeing her byline in Fortune or being invited onto the right podcasts? That became a real confidence boost, cementing her expertise and delivering her message where it counts.

(And let’s talk about that feeling when Forbes comes knocking — absolute magic.)

THE PODCAST EFFECT: WHY RELATIONSHIPS MATTER

“PR isn’t a whiz-bang, overnight thing.” Kate credits a single podcast episode pitched years ago as the catalyst for an extraordinary ripple effect:

    Industry introductions

    In-person event invitations

    Speaking gigs alongside household names

Paid roles facilitating rooms full of CEOs

Translation? PR builds a living network, not just momentary exposure.

PR VS. PERSONAL BRAND — WHERE’S THE OVERLAP?

When you are your business, it isn’t only about what you say, it’s your energy, your story, and how you show up. Unlike product-based brands, service providers can’t hide. Podcasts, panels, and awards, they become vital touch points. Kate sums it up perfectly: “You stand out by showing up, by showing your character, your competency, and your credibility.”

    BE VISIBLE… BUT BE INTENTIONAL

If you’re chasing PR just to rack up as many features as possible, you’re doing it wrong.

It’s not about ticking boxes. It’s about getting in front of the right people, in the right way, with a message that’stailored for them. Kate’s advice is pure gold: don’t spray and pray, and don’t waste energy answering every media call-out just because you can. Learn the ropes, get comfortable with your own narrative, and be selective.

    LET’S BE HONEST

Everyone has imposter syndrome sometimes (yep, even coaches!), but the right PR guidance helps you “borrow” a bit of confidence, own your expertise, and keep momentum going, even if your audience, message, or services evolve over the years.

PR, when treated as a long-term investment (not a one-off fireworks show), just keeps paying dividends.

SO, WHAT IS PUBLIC RELATIONS RE
