  • What does a Workshop Facilitator do? with Tim Price
    2026/08/28

Being a workshop facilitator is easy, right? You just stand in front of a room and read out what's on the screen, or read out your screen share if the workshop is online. As long as you have the specialist knowledge, you can cover any question posed by the audience - what else do you need?

Well, as Workshop Facilitator Tim Price explains in this episode, you need patience. You need to know how to keep the audience engaged (I right this in a single sentence, but it is a hugely important consideration). You need to be prepared to quickly solve any technical issues with your setup, particularly when hosting online. You need to tailor the content for the skill level of your audience. You need to explain it in a language they understand.

Ok, this is just becoming a huge list - listen to the episode to hear more.

  • What Does a Manufacturing Performance Partner Do? with Dan Wilde
    2026/08/21

When something goes wrong in your production line, what are the most likely causes? Either operator error or machine error. But if the machine operator is doing their job properly - judged by their own KPIs - and the maintenance technician is keeping the machine running - judged by their own KPIs - then where could the error possibly be?

Manufacturing Performance Partner Dan Wilde makes the case that because the teams have become siloed, neither is seeing the problem from the others point of view, so the problem is only going to get worse. As Dan says, “KPIs are a symptom of the foundations you build.”

  • What does a Counsellor do? with Kate Wilkinson
    2026/08/14

Most people understand what a counsellor does - you talk to them about a problem you're facing and they help you. But how do they help you? What kind of problems can they help you with? Where do they stand out when compared to a Psychotherapist or a Mental Health First Aider?

All of these questions and more will be answered in this episode of the What Do You Do? podcast, where Counsellor Kate Wilkinson explains how counsellors can help you with a range of problems, what kind of problems, and why you shouldn't wait until they're "serious enough".

  • What Does a Neurodiversity Consultant Do? with Maisie Cass
    2026/08/07

With understanding around different neurodivergent conditions (such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia) increasing everyday, it seems natural that workplace conditions and reasonable adjustments should be improving too. Whilst they are to some degree, there is still a large gap between what is being done and what needs to be done. A recently cited stat states that 70% of managers believe they’re doing enough, whilst only 30% of neurodivergent staff agree.

In this episode of the What Do You Do? podcast, Neurodiversity Consultant Maisie Cass explains neurodivergence, how to approach making reasonable adjustments, and how this can benefit both your business and society.

    A note about this conversation

This episode is a conversational exploration of neurodiversity, informed by Maisie’s lived experience, professional practice and engagement with research. References to research, law or clinical terminology are shared for general information and discussion rather than as medical or legal advice, and language and evidence within this field continue to evolve.

  • What Does a Signmaker Do? with Jason Cooper
    2026/07/31

When considering signage, if you’ve got access to a printer (and a laminator if you’re feeling fancy) it seems quick and straightforward to just print something off yourself. But, like with photography, just because you can do something yourself, doesn’t mean that the final result is going to give the best impression of you and your business.

It’s far too easy to think of signage as functional, rather than the very first thing that a customer will see. A good sign communicates professionalism, builds trust, and helps a customer decide if they enter your premises or the one next door.

In this episode, Jason Cooper from Evesham Signworks explains how effective signmaking can transform the way a business is seen, from small local traders to larger organisations with multiple sites. The talk highlights that the real value of signage lies not just in the function, but in how well it is designed, produced, and installed.

  • What Does a High Sheriff Do? with Maynard Burton
    2026/07/24

There are two things that come to mind when you think of a sheriff. Either it's the lawman in a cowboy film, wearing a Stetson hat, a gold star on the chest and riding a horse. Or far more appropriately to the UK, the nasty and villainous Sheriff of Nottingham constantly thwarted by Robin Hood.
The role of High Sheriff has it roots in the latter, but as time has gone by, many of the original responsibilites have been shared across other roles. For example, the High Sheriff doesn't have to assemble a posse to chase down brigands anymore. Now the role is largely ceremonial, but nevertheless an important one, as it has been preserved purely to make a positive impact.
In this episode of the What Do You Do? podcast, Maynard Burton explains exactly how the role of High Sheriff has evolved over the past thousand years to be something that benefits the county of Worcestershire.

  • What Does a Mental Health First Aider Do? with Wendy Garratt
    2026/07/17

When we talk about first aid we usually assume, and it’s easy to picture, physical first aid. Someone has received a workplace injury and needs to be immediately cared for, potentially before an ambulance turns up.
But what about mental health first aid? If your workplace has mental health first aiders, would you know when you should turn to them, and more importantly, would you?
In this episode of the What Do You Do? podcast, Wendy Garrett explains exactly what Mental Health First Aiders do, and just how they can support people in the workplace.

  • What Does an Ergonomics Assessor Do? with Debbie Atkinson
    2026/07/10

    When it comes to ergonomics, Ergonomics Assessor Debbie Atkinson states it plainly;
"A lot of people don't think that ergonomics is a necessary thing to do."
After all, ergonomics is about comfort, and when we talk about comfort, we think about the soft side of it. We don't think about how discomfort can lead to headaches, back pain and other musculoskeletal issues. We don't think about how those things can then lead to lost productivity, or sick days (with as many as 7.1 million days lost each year).
But a few simple changes, at either the design stage, or later on in the work or home environment, can lead to increased comfort, physical wellbeing and productivity.
