Visiting the building for the first time brought both release and restoration through her journey of grief and healing—transforming the memories she shared with her brother into a living, breathing space that now carries her brother’s legacy. The Center stands as a testimony that Christ is still redeeming lives through her brother’s story.

She shares how this moment tied into her lifelong pursuit of athletics, shaped by memories of watching the Olympics with her brother. The discipline and drive to make each day count for Christ is deeply rooted in their bond, and the Freedom Center gave her a renewed sense of purpose. Instead of needing to achieve the Olympic dream for her brother’s life to matter, she realized the opportunities to serve and make an impact are already all around her. Because of her brother’s life, the Freedom Center now stands as a legacy of freedom, service, and joy—embodying all that he represented.

Throughout her time at the Center, she experienced profound moments of connection and hope—encounters that transcended language and culture and reminded her that grief is a universal language. In these interactions, she felt the weight of loss lift and was given new light to live with the assurance of reunion in heaven with her brother and the people of West Africa.

45. God’s Nudge: Fundraising Dinner & an Uber Ride

Rebecca recalls a powerful moment from her travels to WA for an Orphan Relief and Rescue Fundraiser Dinner—a conversation with an Uber driver who was contemplating ending his life. After talking with Rebecca, he chose instead to “give Jesus a shot.” Whether in West Africa or in a car ride across town, hope and rescue are breaking through in powerful ways.

At this fundraiser dinner, Rebecca and Deb share urgent updates from West Africa where 640 children in our Anti-Trafficking Program are preparing to return to school this October. Right now, only half are funded—leaving 268 children still waiting for safety, meals, and the chance to sit in a classroom. We’re seeking to raise $160,800 to meet this need. Just $50 per month (or $600 per year) can rescue and sustain one child.

Rebecca reflected on a powerful post-trip experience where God gave her deep compassion and insight for the people they were ministering to. Ushering in the presence of Jesus through worship was the strategy for setting people free from bondage. Many were trapped in fear that leaving their idols would bring harm or remove protection from their families—the best way to combat fear is through worship. Even her bodyguard saw angels and joined in worship as a weapon against spiritual darkness.

She honored mothers who had courageously brought their children back from trafficking, celebrating their strength and love. These children would not be standing before her if it wasn’t for Orphan Relief and Rescue.
