  • Can Someone Else? When You Feel Unqualified for God’s Call
    2026/10/16

What happens when God calls us to something we feel completely unprepared to do?

In Exodus 4, Moses protests that he cannot speak well, insists that he is the wrong person for the assignment, and finally asks God to send someone else. God does not withdraw the call. He promises to teach Moses what to say and provides Aaron as a helper.

Moses’ story reminds us that God’s calls are not based upon our qualifications but upon his purposes. We are all inadequate and all fall short, yet those are precisely the kinds of people God works through. He gives believers the Holy Spirit as a permanent helper and provides everything needed for life and godliness.

We are saved by grace rather than by our works—but we are also created in Christ for good works that God has prepared for us. When God calls, he equips. Our responsibility is to lay aside what holds us back, fix our eyes on Jesus, and faithfully walk where he leads.

  • What If? Trusting God Without All the Answers
    2026/10/07

“What if?” can make us rehearse tomorrow’s problems before tomorrow ever arrives.

When Moses worries that no one will believe him, God provides miraculous signs. Yet Pharaoh, Israel, and even Moses demonstrate that seeing a sign does not necessarily produce lasting trust.

In this message from Exodus 3–7, we consider what it means to trust God when he has promised the destination but has not revealed everything the journey will hold. God does not always promise predictability or comfort, but he promises his presence and faithfulness.

A sign may confirm God’s word, but it cannot transform an unwilling heart. Ultimately, our faith rests not in what God might show us next, but in what he has already shown us through the cross and resurrection of Jesus.

  • Who Are You? | Exodus 3–6
    2026/09/28

    Who is the LORD?

Moses and Pharaoh both ask that question—but they ask it in very different ways. Moses asks because he wants to know the God who is sending him. Pharaoh asks in defiance: “Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice?”

The unfolding story of the Exodus is God’s answer.

In this message from Exodus 3–6, we explore the name God reveals to Moses—“I AM”—and what the Exodus teaches us about his character. He is holy, self-sufficient, faithful to his covenant, supreme over creation and every earthly power, severe in justice, and abounding in compassion.

Redemption does not ultimately depend upon Moses’ ability, faithfulness, or power. It is centered in who God is and what God has promised to do. That same truth leads us to Jesus, in whom “we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses” (Ephesians 1:7).

    Scripture passages: Exodus 3:1–15; 4:11; 5:1–2; 6:2–8; 12:12; 15:1–3; 34:6–7; Ephesians 1:7

This message is Week 3 of The Way Out, Part 1 of our series through the Book of Exodus.
