  • Hormones, Healing & Healthy Aging: Why Quality of Life Matters with Elise Clark- Episode 41
    2026/11/03

What does it really mean to live well, especially after a cancer diagnosis? How do we make informed decisions about our hormones, health, and longevity without allowing fear to dictate the way we live?

In this candid and insightful conversation, I'm joined by Elise Clark, FNP-C, to explore the complexities of hormone health after breast cancer, the balance between recurrence concerns and quality of life, and why individualized care matters so much.

We also dive into thyroid health, Hashimoto's, metabolic function, and the often-overlooked role these play in how we feel, function, and age. From brain health and cancer survivorship to nutrition, movement, and recovery, we explore why healthy aging is about so much more than simply adding years to our lives. It's about protecting the quality of those years.

And we take the conversation beyond hormones and medicine to talk about something we don't make enough room for: slowing down. Making time for boredom, putting our phones away, enjoying a meal without distractions, getting outside, and remembering that life isn't supposed to feel like one endless to-do list.

We had our fair share of technical difficulties along the way, including a few unexpected interruptions and restarts, but that didn't stop us from having a meaningful, honest, and incredibly rich conversation!

    In this episode, we explore:

    • Navigating hormone therapy decisions after breast cancer
    • Vaginal estrogen versus systemic hormone replacement therapy
    • Balancing potential risks with quality of life
    • Why cancer survivorship should be about thriving, not just surviving
    • Thyroid health, Hashimoto's, and metabolic function
    • Hormones, brain health, and Alzheimer's prevention
    • The role of nutrition, movement, and recovery in healthy aging
    • Why rest, boredom, and unhurried moments matter more than we think
    • Creating a healthier relationship with technology and encouraging independence in our children

Ultimately, this conversation is about looking beyond diagnoses, lab numbers, and the fear of what might happen, and remembering what we're actually working toward: a life that feels good to live.

Because living longer matters. But living well matters just as much.

  • Life After Breast Cancer: Reclaiming, Rebuilding and Rising with Gina Martin-Episode 40
    2026/10/27

You’ve made it through breast cancer treatment. Everyone expects you to move on, get back to normal and pick up where you left off. But what if you don’t feel like the same person anymore? And what if you don’t want to go back?

In this episode, Crissy and Marie sit down with Gina, executive coach, breast cancer survivor and founder of Own Your Next, a nonprofit providing free coaching, community and leadership development for women navigating life after cancer.

Gina opens up about how her own diagnosis and treatment changed her life, challenged her identity and forced her to rebuild her business and imagine a different future. That experience inspired her to create Own Your Next, helping women find their footing and discover what comes after survival.

Together, we explore the often-overlooked reality of life after cancer: the uncertainty of the “what’s next?” moment, the impact on confidence, finances, relationships and spirituality, and the complicated journey of reconnecting with a body that has been through so much.

We discuss learning to accept yourself where you are, honoring your scars, setting boundaries, protecting your energy and letting go of the pressure to return to who you were before. Gina also shares how small but meaningful shifts, from slower mornings to visualization practices, can help you reconnect with yourself and begin building a life that reflects who you are now.

Through Own Your Next’s eight-week program, women receive group and one-on-one coaching across three phases: Reclaiming, Rebuilding and Rising. It’s an invitation to stop measuring yourself against your old life and start defining what a meaningful next chapter looks like for you.

Because surviving cancer changes you. And moving forward doesn't have to mean going back.

    In this episode, you'll discover:

    • Why the transition after treatment can feel unexpectedly disorienting
    • How cancer can reshape your identity, relationships, confidence and sense of purpose
    • How to practice acceptance and self-awareness without rushing your healing
    • Why boundaries, saying no and putting yourself first are essential, not selfish
    • How to redefine self-care and well-being around what you actually need
    • How Own Your Next helps women reclaim their confidence and envision what's possible

Your reminder: Give yourself grace. Meet yourself where you are today. You don't have to become the woman you were before. You get to decide who you become next.

Ready to explore your next chapter? Own Your Next offers free coaching, community and leadership development for women after cancer. Applications are open for the upcoming cohort. Learn more and apply
