All of us are feeling the strain of modern incivility and angry, divisive politics. Could Kindness Work for this kind of society? I explore this crucial question and ways we can reclaim a better society with intentional prosocial action. I cover the powerful ideas of ancient philosophy and modern science to reveal the personal benefits of improving physical and mental health, plus how moving to intentional acts of kindness create a ripple effect that promotes mental health for all. The main takeaway: Kindness is scientifically and socially powerful.

  • Love Like A... Slave?

Unlock the radical call to "love like a slave" in a world focused on personal gain. This podcast explores the shocking passage in Philippians 2, where the Apostle Paul describes how Jesus was motivated by an all-encompassing, non-coercive love for God and others.

Join Larry in examining the challenge this servant mindset poses to modern goals of comfort, contrasting the attitudes of a finance professional seeking maximum income (Zeke) with a co-worker (Mindy) who volunteers her time and bonus to a refugee clinic.

Listeners will discover how they can adopt this self-giving, others-empowering love in their own lives, revealing that when love is in action, God is present. It's time to embrace the revolution of the servant heart.

  • Leuko Logbook: Less Tongue, More Hope
    2025/08/14

Post your thoughts here. If you want a reply email me at connectTFJ@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

I hoped my 3 year struggle with leukoplakia was near an end as my second tongue surgery began. Painful lesions had diminished my quality of life since a Covid infection. My spirituality had been important in the journey and now was under a test again. Would the mercies of God carry me through? This episode continues the story I’ve told in three other segments of the show. I describe what happened and the divine work which I experienced. I hope this final update of my Leuko Logbook will be of interest and even inspiration.

  • Speak Up Now!
    2025/07/31

Do you find it hard to “speak up?” There are times when silence is not golden but a matte black that doesn’t meet the challenge when something is wrong. It’s important to gain a voice in these difficult times. In this episode I explore the capacity—and even the responsibility—of speaking up when silence feels easier.

Where do we find courage to speak? It grows from self-esteem. For persons of faith, the inclusion in God’s loving family provides a foundation of Worth. Those who understand their innate worth and dignity can turn that assurance into great courage. When a Power is seeking to further an agenda that hurts people, divides communities, or blocks well-being your voice can make a difference.
