In this episode of The Tribe Has Spoken, we explore how values form the bedrock of leadership and team culture — on the field, in the locker room, and beyond. Drawing powerful parallels between sport and military principles, we unpack how commitment, integrity, and courage are more than words on a wall — they’re behaviors that define how teams respond under pressure.

From the discipline of daily habits to the trust built through shared adversity, this conversation challenges coaches and leaders to look inward: Are you living the values you expect from your team?

Join us as we connect the mindset of service, sacrifice, and shared purpose that unites athletes, soldiers, and leaders who choose to play — and lead — beautifully

In part II of this 4 part series, Coach Pearson and I continue our conversation and dive deeper into his testimony. Life, like a river that ebbs and flows, also becomes unsteady. And often, it will dump us out of our "canoe" of comfort and complacency and submerge us in fear, anxiety, and doubt. This segment offers us evidence of God's unwavering love as demonstrated by those he sends to us to show us that he is still in control, still loving, and still surrounding us with his goodness. Sometimes we're the water-carrier, and sometimes we're the one being carried. But regardless of our station and season of life, God is ever-present and constantly leading us.

In this episode of Holding The Line, we dive deep into the often unseen challenges of a coach's life—where the weight of responsibility, the pressure to perform, and the sacrifice of time and energy are a daily reality. But even more than the physical and emotional demands, coaching is a calling that requires a heart of service, patience, and love.

Join us as we hear the personal testimony of Coach Dalton Pearson whose faith in God has been the cornerstone of their journey. Through their story, they share how God's unconditional love fuels their ability to love and lead their athletes, teaching them not just the game, but lessons for life. The episode explores how faith provides strength in the face of adversity, wisdom in decision-making, and hope in the moments of doubt.

Discover how a coach’s trust in God can transform their role from mere instruction to a life-changing influence, and how the love they receive from God is reflected in the care and compassion they pour into the young lives they mentor. This episode is a reminder that coaching isn’t just about the wins and losses—it’s about pouring into others with the same love that God shows us, helping athletes grow not only in skill, but in character and spirit.

Tune in to be inspired, uplifted, and reminded of the powerful impact of faith-driven leadership in sports and life.

  • Becoming The "Rock"

Peter’s story is one of transformation — from fisherman to fearless leader. When Jesus first called him, Peter was an ordinary man, casting his nets on the Sea of Galilee. Bold and impulsive, he often spoke before thinking, yet he had a deep loyalty to Jesus.

Peter was the first disciple to declare, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” But he was also the same disciple who, out of fear, denied Jesus three times the night of the crucifixion. That moment of failure broke him — yet it wasn’t the end. After the resurrection, Jesus restored Peter, asking him three times, “Do you love me?” and charging him to “feed my sheep.”

From that point on, Peter became a pillar of the early church. On the day of Pentecost, he preached with such power that thousands were baptized. He healed the sick, defied authorities, and led the spread of the gospel beyond Jerusalem. Tradition tells us he eventually gave his life in Rome, martyred for his faith — but not before shaping the foundation of Christianity.

Peter’s story reminds us that weakness doesn’t disqualify us — it prepares us for transformation. He wasn’t perfect, but he was willing, and through that willingness he became a rock on which the church was built.

As we carry out the Great Commission, God entrusts us with his people. We are to lead, love, and serve them. 1 Peter 5:1-11 delivers to us the instructions for how to best learn and lead the people God puts in our life. We are to be both mentors and mentees, learning from those we lead and the ones that lead us. We must take ownership of our duty to serve those we lead and seek to win their hearts rather than selfishly seeking to add to our win column.

In episode 3 of 4 Coach Pearson and I focus on Matthew 28:20, the last verse in the Great Commission. We reflect on what teaching truly is, what it looks like in the realm of coaching, not just sport-specific examples, but real-life lessons. We also dive into the second half of verse 20 in which Jesus says he is with us ALWAYS. Not just when we're winning, life is easy, and we're stress free, but even in our valleys and "losing seasons."
