If teacher burnout has left you exhausted after work, taking school home, or wondering how much longer you can keep doing this, The Teacher Recovery Room is for you.

After more than 20 years in the classroom, I know what it feels like to give too much of yourself to teaching. The unpaid hours. The work that follows you home. Counting down to the next break, only to still feel tired when it arrives.

I also know recovery takes more than pushing through until Friday.

The Teacher Recovery Room offers honest conversations, practical tools, and faith-grounded support for teacher recovery, teacher mental health, and educator wellbeing. We talk about boundaries, workload, hidden energy drains, student behavior, the emotional weight of teaching, and how to build work rhythms that leave room for your life outside the classroom.

And if you have found yourself thinking about leaving teaching, you will find space here to slow down, pay attention to what is draining you, and decide what needs to change.

Recover your energy. Reclaim your life. One step at a time.

  • Episode 10: You Know How to Teach. So Why Does Teaching Feel Harder Now?
    2026/09/17

You know how to plan a lesson, manage a classroom, and handle a hard parent conversation. So why does the job feel heavier than it used to? This episode speaks directly to the experienced teacher who has started wondering if something is wrong with her, when the real answer may be that the job itself has quietly added more than it ever gives back in time.

We look at what has actually been added to a teacher's day over the years: more documentation, more meetings, more intervention, more communication, while the workday itself stayed exactly the same length. We talk about how experience can become its own kind of weight, turning "I could do this" into "I should do this," and why being the dependable one at school can slowly turn into being the one expected to carry everything. And we ask a different question than the one most tired teachers ask themselves: not "why can't I handle this like I used to," but "what am I being asked to carry now that I wasn't carrying before?"

Recovery here doesn't mean becoming the teacher who gave school unlimited access to her evenings again. It means naming what's actually changed, choosing one thing to look at closely, and deciding what you can release, reduce, or renegotiate. You still know how to teach. The job just may be asking more of you than it used to, and you get to decide how much of you it gets.

You are more than what you give at school. And your life deserves care too.

  • Episode 9: Why Am I Already Tired? The School Year Just Started
    2026/09/02

Episode 9: Why Am I Already Tired? The School Year Just Started

You have only been back a few weeks, and you are already exhausted. You sit down after work and do not want to get back up. By Wednesday, you are already counting down to Friday. And somewhere in the middle of it all, you start wondering what is wrong with you.

Nothing is wrong with you. But something is worth paying attention to.

In this episode, we talk about why the beginning of the school year drains experienced teachers in ways that are easy to miss - decision fatigue, being "on" all day, carrying student situations home, and the slow creep of work into your personal time. Being tired is one thing. Knowing what is making you tired gives you somewhere to start.

In this episode: • Why the first weeks of school take so much out of you even when you have been teaching for years • The difference between being tired and burning out • Why "school" is not a specific enough answer • One end-of-day practice to help you identify your biggest energy drain this week

Tired is information. This episode helps you figure out what it is telling you.

You are more than what you give at school. And your life deserves care too.

    2026/08/21

Your nervous system walked into that classroom right alongside your students. And every single person in the room is feeling it.

In this episode, we talk about what actually happens inside your body during the first weeks of school - and why your Tier 3 students feel your energy shift before you do. You will learn a simple thirty-second grounding practice called the Three Point Reset that you can use before the first student walks in, during a hard moment in the hallway, or in your car at the end of a long day.

This episode is for every teacher holding the room together while quietly carrying more than anyone sees.

In this episode: • Why thirty nervous systems walk in with your students every single day • What dysregulation actually looks and feels like in the classroom • The Three Point Reset - feet, breath, one true thing • How to stay regulated enough to let the first weeks unfold the way they are supposed to
